Mary Bennet dashes through the Milliways door tonight carrying a largish cloth sack and looking more than a little harried and hunted.

Since she has opted to keep a room here, Mary has been looking for an opportune time to move back most of the things she had taken home from the End of the Universe (before her mother, a nosy sister, or a servant on a cleaning binge should stumble across them). This evening, she'd caught Kitty about to go into her chest looking for something or other, and had decided that she really couldn't put it off any longer.

Easier said than done.

She had had to wait for Kitty and Lydia to vacate the room so she could pack everything up. She'd had to dodge Lizze in the upstairs hall and Mother on the stairs. Bessie, the maid had been blocking her path in the dining room. Mr. Lowell was just starting to get around on crutches, and Mary had had to wait paitently in a dark corner for him and Gibson to slowly make their way down the downstairs corridor before she could make a run for the drawing room and Milliways.

She leans back against the door, clutching her sack. Even her hair looks frazzled.

"Oh, thank God for that."

And other things she never thought she'd say at the sight of Milliways.

"Hi Mary, are you okay?" Guppy asks.

He's got two small children with him; a boy of about three and a half spinning around a table leg, and a girl of about two twirling her skirt in one hand and looking shyly at Mary.
