The past few days have been tiring, his projects aren't quite doing what he wants and he's feeling rather aware of the space where Kait might once have been. They're thoughts he doesn't like as he knows she doesn't need him at this point and so he goes to set up the pyramid court.
He spends most of the afternoon doing shots and practicing until he's as worn out as if he'd been working in the forge all day. As the light starts to fade, he sets light spells at the top of each backstop and keeps playing until he has just enough energy to put them away.
When its fully dark out, he'll go inside and sit at the counter with a towel, lots of cold water and a big dinner.
Tiny tag: Samuel T. Anders
(OOC: Catch Sam outside at the pyramid court or inside at the counter just let me know where.)

Not as easy to catch time with the equipment here as it was before the league started, but he's okay with that. It means people have been having fun.
For as long as he can get away with it, he watches Sameth take shots. Not for scouting purposes, not so much, but just to... observe. To let the other Sam do his thing on his own. Frak yeah, the guy from Team One could use a few pointers, but he won't get them unless he asks. That's the wrong team.
Finally, Sameth calls it a night and starts putting the equipment away and then, then it's time to step out of the shadows.
"Hey, Sam."

"Oh hello, you surprised me. How long have you been out here?"
no subject
Yeah, a little competition's a healthy thing. Like he keeps telling his own teammates, pyramid's all about strategy, and not all strategy happens on the court during a game.
no subject
So far most of the times he missed was when he wasn't really concentrating and fell back on what he knew from cricket or rugby.

"I'm lucky. I only ever really played the one game. I didn't ever have to work that shift from one sport to another."
Yeah, this one? It's been his life, comes as naturally to him as... as breathing. Walking. Waking up in the morning.
no subject
He's enjoying learning something new and getting lost in it.
no subject
Eventually, there will be other sports here. He knows there was a baseball league already, and Grace has promised Team Three touch football. He's eager to learn it all.
"Sometimes, being at this place is like being at school. So much new information, you know?"

As he says Milliways, he fades off a little and looks towards the forest, he hasn't been looking for her but he knows she's living here. There's also Kait or was Kait but she's complicated and why he's been doing his best to wear himself out.
no subject
"Yeah, that's one way of saying it. It's Milliways. End of the frakking line."
There's nothing in the forest, not as far as he can see, but he's no one's fool. Never been stupid a day in his life. "What's up, man? Something going on?"

She doesn't move other than this, however, or make any attempt to interrupt him. She just sits, with her legs folded and knees pulled up to her chest.

"Oh hello."
no subject
"Hi."
Beat. In an even, somewhat detached tone "I didn't mean to... startle you."
It seems to take her a minute to decide on the last two words.
no subject
He looks up since its gotten a little darker than he realized.
no subject
"Not if you're using it."

"I haven't before."
But she's trying to remember the rules.
She glances down to the ball, and adds, "I already know how to aim."
no subject
He doesn't want to be in her way if she's in the mood for privacy like he was.

Scorpius has abandoned his things at his picnic table for the moment - he has anti-theft charms on the lot, thank you very much - and is watching Sameth on the court.
He calls out to the other boy:
"What's that? What're you playing?"
no subject
He catches the ball after a missed shot and turns to Scorpius with a tired smile.
no subject
Scorpius considers the court.
It does have a distinctly pyramid shape to it.
"I've never heard of it," he says - (not much surprise there) - and he gestures at the goals.
"How long have these been about?"
no subject
Then he gestures to a space close to the court but under some cover.
no subject
"Maybe just a demonstration."
He's not really in the mood to play any sort of team sport at the moment.
"And, uhm - No, I don't know a Sam Anders."
(Also not surprising, that. There's always someone new about Milliways he hasn't met before.)
no subject
"Um, sure, its pretty easy in the basics but gets complicated the more rules you know."
no subject
"Ball goes in the goal sort of basics?"
