A fairly large rooster appears in the air above Bar and after some loud flapping, lands on the countertop.

No, this isn't some Cubefall induced transformation. And no, there are no wizards around performing experiments on live chickens, as wizards are wont to do. It isn't someone Belar is punishing for breaking the rules either. Its not even a first timer.

It's just someone who hasn't ventured beyond his room upstairs for a long time.

Pecking and chasing Lego bricks around the Bar's countertop is fun, apparently.

To be fair, it's mostly a reaction to a teleportation to the top of the Bar.

Stop.

It is a bit difficult to tell what that stare means. Chicken facial expression isn't very... varied.

It's the beak. After last year's Cubefall she knows this.

"How did you do that."

[OOC: Pfft. Your slow is nothing before the might of this fully operational something or other.]

She should know a beak is as useful for talking purposes as it is for facial expression.

"Magic." Duh. "Learned from the finest, most tenderest wizards of the times when the world was still young and full of hope!"

"No, not of hope. Intrigue! Maybe a little hope."

Well, Ako knows to expect it from this chicken.

Teleporting, talking chickens.

Oh yeah. Him.

"So, when? The sixties?"

He considers this. The sixties?

"Yes! Everyone wanted to take over the world back then. It was the world against the big evil empire, and people were chanting ♫ give war a chance ♪♪".

Um, maybe not that sixties.

"I don't think hope and songs about giving war a chance go together that well."

Possibly she's being provincial though.

"Sure they do, especially when the only other option is letting an empire roll over you and bring in their strange ideas about religion and acceptance and tolerance and the nature of the universe. Sometimes resistance and war is the only hope!"

He strikes a proud pose. He's been giving long winded rabble rousing speeches to other chickens alot lately. Seemingly without taking time to sleep. Having a nest in Milliways is convenient that way.

Ako decides to eat more chicken. Mostly in self defense.

"Not a fan of tolerance and understanding?"

"Oh, its fine, its just that sometimes when everything is equal, some wind up more equal that others, if you know what I mean. But I like tolerance and understanding, but not everyone does, and they are very misunderstood people and are very hard to understand. Those people were the sorts that stood up for their right to be understood without having to understand anything at all. They saw how great the war was going for the Kharidian people and wanted to do the same."

Plus, who wants equality and friendship with vampires, werevolves, demons, and gargoyles? Ew.

Hey now! Some of Ako's most manipulative and dangerous classmates are vampires.

No wait. That's not right.

"That sounds like it's pretty complicated."

"It was! Everything was being done in secret, and people had to keep their misunderstandings to themselves. It was against the law, you know. But there were many intolerant gods that demanded worship and promised that if their worshippers took over the world, misunderstanding would not only be legal, but encouraged. Of course, people were very excited about that."

"You know, I was a god once. I am worshipped by fairies. Or was it witches? Fairy witches? No.. Fairy witch dragons. Maybe. I don't know." He shakes his head, as if trying to get a bunch of disconnected notions fall into a jumble that makes sense. "Am I a god?"

He... isn't the most reliable source of information about himself. Or ancient history.

Ako peers at him.

"It's hard to tell," she says, "I have new eyes today, and I'm not sure what a god looks like with them, or even a regular chicken."

"I thought your name sounded familiar." Magical name guessing powers, go figure. "Are those eyes very different from what you had before?"

"I can see temperatures now, plus everything I could before. It's like the difference between a statue and a painting."

"Ohh, so you are not human anymore! Throwing pinecones into the fireplace must be much more interesting now."

"How are you doing that?"

It's probably cheating, knowing her name like that.

"Doing what?"

SO much cheating. Very much. But how else would he be able to strike fear in the hearts of mortals who visit the ~~plastic surgeon~~ makeover mage every week?

And if Milliways had a teleport loadstone there'd be so much more confusion on that front.

"I didn't mention my name," says Ako, "And I look completely different than normal. How did you recognize me?"

You've stumped the chicken, Ako.

Hold on... he'll get it, eventually.

"Oh, you don't know who I am, do you? You're human," he says more smugly than any chicken should. Wait a minute, chickens can't keep track of people through such drastic physical changes. Probably not anyway. "I am talented."

"Talented at what?"

"Many things!"

"I forgot that you humans can't know someone's name unless they tell you."

He's just going to go back to pecking at lego bricks...

"Huh."

Ako absently joins some of the blocks together. Never mind that she isn't human right now, she's never been able to do that.

"That sounds incredibly useful."
