Somepony is not quite expecting the vidwindow popping up in front of her when she comes to Milliways today. Apart from appearing at all, though, it makes no threatening move, so Fluttershy soon comes out from behind the chair over there to get a better look at it.

She's somewhat confused by the offer of a temporary transformation, but surely it wouldn't hurt to take a look, right?






It's not long before Fluttershy makes her choice.


A slender, pink-leaved tree stands in the bar. "Oh," it says after a moment. Gradually a branch bends down, as if in front of a face, then goes back up. It may bear noting that the tree has no noticeable face. Slowly, slowly, the tree makes its way toward the back door. There's sunlight out there, and soil, and water, and those are integral parts of a tree's existence.

There's a rather impressed-looking young human woman holding the back door for that pink tree, once s/he (who's to say?) gets there.

Either this is a Cubefall transformation, she's thinking, or a species of mobile trees visits the bar. Actually one of the latter does, or has. Alas, she's never met Filif, and Fluttershy can't know Sariel's thoughts anyway.

Well, she could. It's not that much harder to make a tree telepathically receptive than to make it ambulatory. But this one isn't, so.

She might be holding the door for a while, sorry. Trees are not built for speed.

This one is made for politeness, though, so as it passes Sariel it says "Thank you." The voice is Fluttershy's normal one - soft and shy and female, and probably not what one expects a talking tree to sound like.

(It may bear noting, also, that how the sound is produced is not obvious.)

True enough. Maybe that'll be next year's transformation? ... For one of these two, anyway.

Sariel can handle holding the door for a while. That tree is plainly heading in a doorward direction, and closing it on her would just be rude. Speed is not a requirement here.

"You're welcome," says the human, once the tree gets there. Her own voice is softer than some, and if not shy, then at least a shade on the reserved side. Beat. "If I can ask, are you new here, or is this a Cubefall transformation?" Another half-second. "Or possibly both?"

"Um, no, it's just Cubefall," answers the tree. "I started coming here... almost a year ago, now." That's a bit of a surprise to realize.

"That's an unusual choice of form," Sariel muses. "... Or maybe it isn't so unusual, depending on your shape otherwise? It must be fascinating all the same." Yes, she approves.

"Once, I was temporarily reconfigured into a black cat for Cubefall." Just ask Yrael. "I haven't transformed this year, though."
