first entrance.
So, life has finally started to resemble something that might be referred to as 'normal'. At least ... it's something normal-like, according to Miss Jessica Day. Mizz Day. Jess. The Jess-ster.
It can be noted that Jess is pretty much used to things never really going the way they should, or the way she wishes they could in her head.
(Like the whole thing with her ex, Spencer; and her spontaneously moving in with a bunch of guys - who are honestly the best, so really, no regrets there - because she couldn't stand living with a bunch of models anymore.)
But people are often singing out their feelings in these situations in her head. Sometimes, there's even a random dance number. So maybe it's best that they don't really go the way they do in her head.
In any case, she's standing in the doorway with a slightly rumpled, but still brightly coloured solar system diorama in her arms, eying the new locale with a fair amount of confusion, skepticism and disbelief on her face. Her large-framed glasses slide down her nose.
That is when Saturn decides to come loose from its string, the spray-painted orange and brown foam ball bouncing to the ground and rolling off towards a table.
"Oo-kay. I'm pretty sure this ... isn't supposed to be here."

[ooc: Aaaaand I'm off for the night! But h'omg this was the best. I'll be tagging all slowtimes and such tomorrow!]

"And I'm guessing you have no idea who Nick, Winston or Schmidt are, do you?"
no subject
He shakes his head at the names. "Don't ring a bell, though."
no subject
It was worth a shot, even if she kinda knew the answer she was going to get.
"And are you from - wait, a kid with horns? I'm guessing it wasn't a Halloween costume, was it?"
no subject
He'd thought it might be a Capitol thing, but by the end of the conversation, he was pretty sure the kid wasn't from anywhere like the Capitol.
no subject
"It's only the biggest cavity-inducing holiday of the year."
Jess watches him.
"No?"
no subject
"Well...I don't think it was a costume. Is that sort of thing...not done where you're from?"
no subject
"Wow. Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore," she quotes, regardless of whether Darius will understand or not.
(She's betting on the latter.)
"Well, we've definitely got Halloween. But we don't have any actual people with horns. Not that I know of anyway."
no subject
He shakes his head. "So, um, if nobody's said so, this is Milliways. I guess it's at the end of the universe, and your first drink's free. And the rules are simple. Which is always nice."
no subject
The rest of his explanation ... oh, god. Yeah. Definitely not in Kansas anymore.
In fact, she's probably galaxies away from Kansas right now, if this really is the ... end.
no subject
"In the bar proper," he adds. Because...well, that's important right? The bar doesn't rule out sex altogether, just where people could see it.
no subject
(Honestly, it's hard enough having a date with someone let alone anything more. After Spencer -
Nope.
Not going to think about that. She's been doing so well, too.)
Jess nods.
"Yeah, those are good simple rules. I can definitely follow those."
no subject
no subject
"Well, hopefully they're not too terrible."
Although, being that it's the end of the universe, the possibilities are technically endless. So many different worlds, so many different ways of disciplining people.
"I'm pretty law-abiding anyway."
no subject
no subject
"Nothing big, though.
"Nothing ... criminal. Obviously."
The last is said a little awkwardly, because she doesn't want to colour herself as some kind of delinquent.

"Cool.
"Because I wouldn't want that to jeopardize what could be the start of a beautiful friendship, you know?"
no subject
no subject
Amused, she adds, "And I'm guessing the 'not just yet' is meant to keep me or any potential friend on their toes, huh?"
no subject
no subject
"Are you one of those people who blacklists someone if they wrong you somehow?"
She knows people like that, people who hold grudges for life.
no subject
He's actually a pretty forgiving person.
no subject
"Okay. Well, it's not like I would've done anything horrible anyway. The most I'd do to you is ... embarrass you with awkward situations.
"I'm kinda notorious for those."
Unfortunately!

Jess grins.
Oh, she likes him.
"You'd be one of the first."
