Most Milliways patrons enter via the front door. A few come in through the back.

It's not too often that you see one appear in the middle of the room in a flash of magenta light.

POOF.

The unicorn looks around her for a moment, then pumps her forehoof in triumph. "Yesss! It worked!"

And with that, she trots over to Bar to order a BLT. (For ponies, that stands for a Buttercup, Lily, and Tulip sandwich.)

"Impressive," says Varric, who was idly toying with a new kind of paper and pen just down the Bar. These 'fountain pens' are amazingly simple to use compared to those blasted quills. "You don't see magic like that very often."

"I've been pushing myself to do longer and longer teleports," says Twilight proudly. "I got here from the edge of the Everfree Forest!"

"And since I have no idea how to measure its distance from here," says Varric, "I'm going to go with 'at least as impressive as a mage moving himself bodily into the Fade'. Since that's a whole realm in itself, from what I hear. Nice work."

"It's at least five miles. I haven't done an exact measurement yet," Twilight replies. "...what's the Fade?"

"The realm of dreams and spirits in my world," says Varric. "Humans and elves go there in dreams. Mages apparently have ways of going there in spirit, but most of them can't do it bodily. My people don't have access to it at all, so I don't know how accurate my information is."

"Talking horses," observes the teenage superhero. He turns and addresses the Bar. "That's new."

Bar does not respond. Invincible should know better than to make assumptions about her customers.

The unicorn quirks an eyebrow at him. (Yes, ponies have eyebrows.) "I've been coming here for more than a year now. I have several friends who come here too. Have you just not met any of us?"

Invincible shrugs. "Chance, happenstance, luck, timing... take your pick," he says, smiling. "I've only been coming in here for a few months, and the last couple of times I was pretty distracted. You could have asked me to pass the ketchup and I might not have noticed at that point."

"Anyway, I noticed now, so hello," he says. "I'm Invincible."

"My name's Twilight Sparkle," says the unicorn, offering a hoof to shake. "Pleased to meet you."

(She's not inclined to ask about the name. As far as she's concerned, it's one of the few sensible names she's heard in Milliways.)

There's a pause, and then Invincible shakes the hoof. "Likewise," he says. "So, a teleporter? Nice. I've heard of a few of those, but never met any of them."

Rumors are that Darkwing's sidekick can teleport, but the Defender of Midnight City doesn't stay still long enough for many photos, so it's hard to say if Night Boy is just agile and sneaky, or can actually do it.

Link is incredibly tempted to ask her if she normally pops up in such a fashion that would scare the pants off of whoever's nearby, but he restrains himself. No need to be teasing and sarcastic for no reason!

So he'll settle for, "...that was some entrance."

"Thank you," says Twilight proudly. "I need to do some measurements to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure that was my longest teleport to date."

"Congratulations! Are you doing that for school?"

Because people can't just use magic and teleport there has to be academic reasons for this!

"Kind of. It's more of an independent study," says Twilight. "I'll definitely mention it in my report to Princess Celestia, though."

"Is that how you always travel?"

Seems awfully convenient, to Link. Don't have to worry about flying into tornadoes, no rough landing--just, bam! There in a snap!

"...Duuuuuuude. Was that unassisted teleportation?"
Claudia is kiiinda staring. But then, her experiences with the field aren't the happiest. Anyway, how's that for a distraction from college applications?
(Her table's less covered in food than it was; people have helped with the fries and fried paradoxes, and she's whittled the pizza down to about a quarter. But it's still more food than she usually has.)

"Mm-hm." She puffs out her chest in pride. "My longest one to date!"

"Congrats. But I'll pass on trying it out with you. Teleportation and me don't exactly get along."
Not to the extent of, say, Alyx. But it's still not what she'd call a favorite subject.

"Oh? What makes you say that?"

"My brother's master's thesis went horribly wrong. He zapped himself into limbo when I was ten. Took me twelve years to bust him out."
If anyone in the family's going to revisit the subject, it'll be Joshua, and she's not so sure he'll be interested, all things considered. Besides, he's got CERN to keep him busy.

Pinkie's used to Twilight's displays of magical might, but she's envious of them, too. She's already set up at the Bar with a huge pink milkshake of her own.

"I wish you could teach me how to do that," she admits.

"Since when do you need it?" Twilight teases. "I've seen you defy the laws of physics on a regular basis."

"But I don't get to have a cloud of smoke with me! Just think, I could go zip! ZAM! BOOMSHACKALACKA!" There is gesturing happening - thankfully more than a few inches away from Twilight's sandwich.

"I dunno, does the joke shop sell smoke bombs?"
