Now that the Ausa-Malfoy household has increased by one, Rabastan has been doing what he can to help.

Offers of child-minding and taking on a few chores like cleaning have been made - all so that the parents can get a little rest.

Today, though, he is not doing that. Today he is resuming his knitting in earnest.

You can tell. The project is a mess.

Still getting over that learning curve.

Sometimes the learning curve is a steep one. Fortunately, he'll have plenty of time to tackle it since the maids in the Magic Guild have likely been shooing him away. If they have a chance to clean Majesty Mia's quarters (and get to coo at her adorable children), they're going to do their best to take it.

Mia and Scorpius showing up probably won't help, as the baby will probably be all for tugging the yarn loose if it gets near his tiny fingers.

"Making a blanket?" she asks, gently patting the baby's back.

Well, you can't blame him for trying.

"That's what I'd like it to be," he mutters. "Who knew Muggle hobbies to be so challenging?"

"Muggles,perhaps?" she suggests. "You'll get the hang of it sooner or later."

Scorpius yawns and snuggles against Mia's shoulder, what fine hair he has as pale blond as his father's.

He laughs. Quietly, not wanting Scorpius to wake up and cry.

"I hope so." Then, "I never expected to find something so Muggle to be satisfying, even if it's challenging."

"Sometimes the challenge is what makes it satisfying."

And not long after, there's a bit of quiet snoring.

"Okay, he's asleep. Once he actually goes to sleep, waking him up takes effort."

He nods. That's one of the reasons, he figures.

"I hope that at least gives you two more sleep time with him?"

"It is kind of easier the second time around."

She rubs the baby's back a little more before putting him in his pram nearby.

"Cepheus is able to get him to sleep fast, too. As soon as he holds Scorpius's hand, the child immediately calms down."

"And to think Cepheus wasn't initially too chuffed about having a little brother around."

"I imagine some sibling rivalry will show up sooner or later. But having Big Brother privileges is likely helping. He's having some time with Draco right now so he knows he won't have to fight Scorpius for attention."

Sibling rivalry.

Rabastan is just glad most forms of sibling rivalry is/was/will be nowhere near as bad as it was for him and Rodolphus [which was pretty much one-sided].

"He's also got me, for when Draco needs to focus on Scorpius."

Rabastan is only too happy to oblige.

"I'm sure Cepheus will always be happy to have his uncle."

Especially when there are knitting projects to mess up.

No surprise why it's taking Rabastan so long to master knitting—impatient little boys who'd rather be playing games than sitting quietly.

"He'll soon have to share," Rabastan muses.

"That will be interesting. But with Scorpius remaining small for now, that will take at least a little time."

"Don't worry—I'll make sure they both get equal amounts of it."

"So will we."

Scorpius wriggles some in his pram, adjusting in his sleep.

"He has a middle name from my home. I got a letter from Alex not that long ago regarding that. Apparently he and Luna are trying for children themselves and he's calling dibs on the name Dyne. So this one is Scorpius Laike."

"Laike. Think he'll like that name?" he wonders.

"Which one? Scorpius or Laike? I don't think Laike would object but I haven't told him yet."

"Laike, and I meant do you think Scorpius will like the name?"

"Wait, what?"

And then she figures out their misunderstanding.

"Oh! I was talking about the name Laike. But when you asked if I think 'he' will like that name, I didn't know if you meant 'he' as in, 'Would Scorpius like the middle name Laike?' or 'he' as in, 'Would Laike like that I gave my son his name?' I mean, Scorpius is only a baby right now. He's got his whole lifetime to hear it and decide if he likes it, I suppose."

Rabastan laughs.

"I guess it was a silly question to ask, now I think of it."
