Sallie sets out the last serving tray along the bartop next to the dishes and silverware.

What? Sallie had a few hours' time on her hands. Come take advantage.

Sallie doesn't flinch at the intensity of it all. (But she comes close.)

"Charles, son, you need a vacation."

"There isn't time. Erik might leave at any point and we need to figure out how to make Cerebro work better."

"Without boiling your brain like an egg."

"Yes, I have some ideas and I think Erik will be able to help. It's an amazing device."

"It sounds creepy."

"It's not creepy or at least it doesn't feel it when I'm in it."

"Not creepy for you - what if folk don't want to be known like that?"

"Well, if we do find people, we'll be talking to them and hopefully showing them that they're not alone. It's a way to bring mutants together."

"Just -- be safe. Okay?"

"I will be. I don't enjoy having it hurt to think."

"Except how you make yourself read all those academic texts."

That would make Sallie's brain hurt.

"Those are interesting and I don't do that all the time. Honestly Erik is far more confusing than any academic text."

Have you never been interested in a man before, or is it more the history?

I have been interested in men before, but never with this same intensity. They've never been like me.

I wasn't looking to care for him like this. He just changes everything.

Which Charles finds terrifying and wonderful.

I just meant he was good lookin'.

Charles laughs and almost snorts some of his tea,

"Yes, he is, very."

[realmrsreynolds]

"Right? With the eyes and the jawline. Mmf."

And that backside!

And his lean muscles.

As he knows Sallie will appreciate it, he shares the memory from last night of Erik getting ready for bed before Charles helped him sleep. There are a lot of mixed up feelings such as desire and guilt and a bit of feeling foolish.

"Oh my."

Youth is wasted on the young, I swear it. Just laughing.

We're not wasting, its just complicated. I don't want to hurt Iris or him and keep making a mess of things, but oh Sallie, he's amazing.

"I hope it works out for you, baobei, I really do."

Just let me know if he needs -- you know. Anything.

Charles face falls a little and he reaches out to squeeze Sallie's hand,

"I think he'd like you but he's not good at trusting and being cared for. We're figuring that out as well."

[realmrsreynolds]

That's what she meant, of course. That's what Sallie does.

But she covers well (audibly at least), with, "I meant with those lean muscles."
