First Entrance.
Pema and the girls were off in the city, which left Tenzin with Meelo tending to the gardens for the day picking vegetables. Now it is important to note that Tenzin loves his son, as he loves all his children. That being said - Tenzin's ears hurt from all the pulling.
Meelo's back in his room now, just for the moment while Tenzin puts away his things in the bedroom he shares with his wife. His brown work robes are changed for his habitual orange-and-yellow Air Nomad ones and he leaves his room again intending on a nice lunch with his son.
Except he is not in the temple anymore, is he?
Tenzin straightens the clasp of his robe as a rare nervous tic, but it drops from his expression nearly immediately so that he can survey the situation.
Tenzin of Air Temple Island, welcome to Milliways.

"....'scuse me," the man mumbles.
Or it could be the sheer amount of liquor on his breath.
Either way...it's clear he doesn't mean an offense.

"Bumi?"
no subject
There weren't any higher ranking officers in the tavern, so why no title? They can't be so soused that they've forgotten protocol, can they? And...why does that person sound like his baby brother?
Very slowly he turns.
"Tenzin?!"
no subject
Tenzin is walking up to Bumi to hug him even as he is asking the question.
"You normally say something when you are coming by."
no subject
"Brother, we're not in Republic City," he says slowly. "We're in a tavern on the easternmost shore of Chameleon Bay."
He leans back from the hug and gives Tenzin an appraising look...which sort of wobbles a bit. "Has Oogi thrown you? Are you all right?"
no subject
Tenzin holds up one hand, then: "How many fingers am I holding up?"
no subject
"That's what I'm trying to determine. And why were you this far east to begin with? Were you blown off course by a storm?"

"Not where you were?" she asks with a slight smile. Rae has asked this question many times upon meeting newcomers - it no longer seems weird to her.

Tenzin makes a concerted effort to know all the novitiates, and this...fluorescent woman is not one of them.
"Is this the spirit world?"
no subject
"Most definitely not a new arrival, though there are still things about this place that surprise me," she replies. "It's not the spirit world, or any sort of Otherspace I'm familiar with. This is Milliways. It's a bar."
no subject
"There is no way I approved this."
no subject
"No one ever does." It's sympathetically said. "Milliways shows up when and where it wants to, usually without warning. For example, it tends to show up in my bakery near the end of my shift."
"It's not part of any one world, so you get people from all over, not just from one's own world or time, but from anywhere and anywhen."

And he gets this instead.
Oh, well. He's just going to- okay, new person directly in his path... "Sorry," he says, doing his best to ease sideways around the person he doesn't recognize at all. "Didn't mean to come up short on you like that."
no subject
No use in lying, I suppose.
"Is there a reason there is now an alehouse in my dormitory?"

(Tenzin hasn't been outside yet.)
"I can return whenever I'd like?"

Tenzin shrugs. "Children."

When he spots Tenzin, who looks new, he sets his dinner down and smiles, "Yer first time 'ere, sir?"
He kind of looks like a monk just with a colorful habit.
no subject
"It is. I know of no alehouses like this in Republic City."

This is Tenzin's not-believing-you face.

He gestures but doesn't look.
