(no subject)

It's kind of boring recovering from concussion. So Gohan has been trying to do some quiet training that can't possibly exacerbate anything in his head.

At the moment, he is floating a foot in the air, in a sitting position, holding a sofa above his head with the arm that wasn't recently mended. Which isn't terribly taxing, but does at least require him to focus chi in two directions at once.

Feel free to stare, or tell him to put the sofa back.

Link is not going to tell him to put the sofa down, but his face is saying 'hey aren't you recovering from a concussion don't you think holding a sofa over your head is kind of dangerous'.

"Hi Link." Gohan waves with his other hand, then carefully lowers the sofa.

"Hi," he says, approaching cautiously. "Are you...feeling better?"

"My arm still hurts a little, but I feel better." Gohan says. "Thanks for helping the other day."

He scratches the back of his head. "You're welcome..."

He's still a little unsure, but if the kid says he's okay...

"Saiyans heal fast." Gohan says.

"Still, I'd be careful... That's a couch."

Yes Link Gohan doesn't know he's holding up a couch.

"Huh?" Gohan looks at the couch he just put down. "Oh, it's only a small one - more a chi exercise really. Makes you focus chi up at the sofa and down to fly at the same time."

Link is about to say something to the effect of 'alsklaskjdlkasjdsad but that's a couch you'll get hurt!!!', except he remembers all the times people here got on his case for jumping off of birds and crash landing into the ground, so he's just gonna...

"--oh...okay..."

"I guess it's weird, huh." Gohan says, scratching his hair slightly.

"I don't know many other kids my age so it's hard to know what's normal."

"Not even from your world...?"

"Well we live in the middle of nowhere, and I'm the only half-saiyan on the planet. I haven't any friends my own age."

"Oh... Well, you shouldn't think you're weird because of that... What you do is normal for you, right?"

"Yeah, I think Dad would have been the same at his age."

"Then you shouldn't worry about it...and neither should I," he says, scratching the back of his head.

Grin.

"Do you go to school? What's it like?"

"I go to the Knight Academy. It's pretty nice. I have my own room there and everything."

"Wow! You're going to be a knight?"

"I hope so! Um, if I pass the test..."

Guess who just remembered that whole Wing Ceremony thing?

"Do you have to study hard? Mommy gave me homework for our mission."

"I have to practice a lot, yeah."

In theory.

"Oh, training? Yeah, I do that too, with Mr Piccolo or Daddy or Kuririn, whoever is around."

"Or couches," he says dryly.

"Yeah... the others wouldn't be very impressed with that though."

"Why not? I can't lift a couch."

yes link because you are a 5'2'' little non-magical elf boy

"Because I'm capable of lifting much more and should be training to the extreme."

"--always? Isn't that kinda dangerous?"

"Mr Piccolo says I have to work hard or prepare to die young."

He frowns. "I guess he has a point, but...why scare you into working hard? Just do it because you want to get better!"

"Because he's right. The world could end if I don't stand up to the enemy because I'm one of the few people powerful enough to stop alien enemies."

"Oh. Well...d-don't train so hard that you're too hurt or tired to fight."

"Time has stopped outside." Gohan says. "I ought to use this chance to get stronger."

He nods.

"And rest."

That's the important part, says Mr. Sleepyhead.

"Yeah, rest, train and eat." Gohan nods. "Sallie said I can eat as much from the bar as I need so I don't have to eat stuff I found outside."

"Who's Sallie?"

"The Barman. Or Barlady. She makes a great breakfast." Gohan says. "And I'm way stronger now I've recovered a bit, want to see? Er, outside."

"--ah, sure."

As long as he doesn't try to lift him.

Gohan heads outside, holding the door for Link.

Then, in an open space, he powers up. Doesn't affect the arm so much, but his whole body glows, air rushes around him, and there's a general feeling of energy.

And Link does that thing where he steps back in surprise (while still looking adorable).

Gohan powers down.

"Sorry, did I scare you?"

He shakes his head. "It was just a surprise, is all."

Gohan, this kid acts surprised when a door closes behind him, every single time. You're fine.

"I could do with a snack, do you want something?" Gohan asks.

He's not quite recovered; powering up is more tiring.

"Sure. I could buy it for you if you like."

He's not at the point where he has literally over nine thousand rupees but he has some change to spare.

"Thanks, but it's okay, I get fed for free... I eat kind of a lot so I wouldn't want to put you out."

He grins. "It's okay...I kind of eat a lot, too."

Growing boys and all.

He starts to move towards the door and beckons Gohan to follow.

"I eat my own volume in food most days." Gohan says, sheepishly, following.
