[Out by the Lake]
Splinter's not sure how long the strange little orange men who live in the walls have been working on what ever it is that they're working on, but if their count down is any indication, there are 867,530 bottles of beer left on the wall.
What wall? He has no idea, but it surely it is a rather vast one to hold so many empty green and brown bottles.
From his favorite meditation spot he has a perfect view of the island in the Lake where they're placing the bottles mosaic-style into wet cement. Already some spiral patterns are emerging, and Splinter has no doubt that the structure well be quite lovely when it is completed.

She is not nearly so serene, however. Her expression can best (or at least most politely) be summed up as: What?

The voice is familiar, however, so she starts to say something only to choke on the words when she looks his way.
That's not at all who she expected to see, and now she looks doubly taken aback.
Milliways is so strange.

"Life here is constantly changing."
no subject
"Aye."
Alanna takes a few steps closer, peering at him much the way she'd been studying the Loompas.
"Are you...?"
no subject
"Yes."
no subject
"Master Splinter. I didn't mean to stare."
That's her way of apologizing.
Oddly, it makes her feel better. Shape shifters are not unheard of in Tortall.
"What are they doing?"

And now he's wandering over to near where Splinter sits, to...stare.
What is he even looking at.

"...what is it?" he asks. If the guy thinks it's magnificent then he obviously has some idea what the heck is going on.
no subject
"I am not exactly sure, but it has been fascinating to watch them work."
no subject
"Do you know what they are?"
One of these days he will say something to Splinter that isn't a question.

"Wei," Sallie calls to Splinter as she walks closer. "You liking the view?"
no subject
"Very much so indeed," he says with a soft smile.
Though...it's unclear if it's the in progress building project or Sallie he's referring to.
no subject
"Am I interrupting? Was goin' to find a chair and read a spell."
no subject
"Not at all. I do not wish to be a distraction from your reading, but you are more than welcome to join me here."
He's seated on a blanket, there's a small picnic hamper within reach, and as luck would have it he has also brought along an extra cushion for sitting.
Funny that.
It's almost like he was expecting company.
no subject
Sallie takes a moment to sit down on the cushion and tuck her skirts under her knees, pulling her paperback out of a deep pocket.
(He's going to be distracting, as always.)
no subject
"Can I interest you in a beverage?"

He spots Splinter... the guy looks kind of familiar somehow, but he can't quite place him. But he nods and smiles all the same.
no subject
"It is good to see you again, Doctor."
The voice and kimono are kind of unmistakable, even if the face is not.

Guppy stares for a moment in... well, surprise, but this is Milliways after all.
Fry, who has heard a great deal about Splinter (enough to know he's normally a big rat anyway), tilts his head.
"Did you have laser hair removal? I saw it on telly."
no subject
"No, I am afraid not, little one."
no subject
"What happened?" Guppy asks, following the kid.
no subject
Splinter does his best to bow from his seated position.
As for what happened, he merely says: "Cubefall."
