[OOM: Powerless. As a note, this is pre-canon, but contains very significant foreshadowing for events through Legend of Korra 1x07, so if you're still avoiding spoilers, you should probably skip. Asami, however, has no spoilers.]

The first thing that passes over the threshold when the door opens is a small, single headlight, quickly followed by a tire and then the front end of a white moped with black decorative trim and gleaming steel pipes affixed under the seat. The seat is currently empty – instead, it's being pushed along by tall woman in dark red trousers, high black boots, red gloves, and a long black-and-red jacket, the shoulders decorated with a design that appears to be half a rotating gear.

She's also still wearing a red helmet and goggles, and with her head ducked, she doesn't appear to realize she's probably walked into the wrong place until she's made sure the door is closed behind her. Then, still holding the moped's handlebars, she turns to face the bar at large.

And Asami freezes in place.

Definitely not what she was expecting.

"Nice ride," says the blonde.

Asami turns to look at the blonde. The comment doesn't make her any less startled, and it takes about a minute for her to catch herself, and answer -

"Thanks..."


Glancing back around the bar and up toward the rafters, "I think... I took a wrong turn somewhere."

"It's a little stranger than that," she says, "Your door got hijacked. Welcome to Milliways."

She lifts her goggles off her eyes, but doesn't remove her helmet yet.

Deciding to focus on the words she knows here - "My door got what?"

"Hijacked, rerouted. It's either magic or tech that qualifies as sufficiently advanced, but you aren't in the world you were before this."

Sorry.

This is actually a pretty sensible answer - or at least the best she could probably hope for given the circumstances, but. Still.

"How can I not be in the wold I was in before this?"

Unless she's somehow in the Spirit World. Though even from what little Asami knows about she, she doubts this is the Spirit World.

"I have no idea." Artemis is not the most helpful of people sometimes.

"But, um, the door takes you back where you were before. So If I open it, you get the scenic north side of Gotham and if you open it it goes back to whereever you were."

"Never saw anyone bring in a moped before."

That's the man in khaki cargo pants and a navy blue polo shirt, his hands behind his head and his legs up on the table in a way that'd make any grade school teacher throw a fit.

Hi, Asami.

Her turn is sharp, but Asami just bites her lip, and looks down at the moped and then up around the bar again.

"I'm sorry - I must be in the wrong place -"

Which is a bit strange for Asami, who really isn't used to taking wrong turns.

Voodoo shrugs. "You could be. Were you planning on coming to the end of the universe today?"

There's a pause, and she grips the handlebars to the moped just a little tighter.

"Right. Definitely the wrong place."

Because 'end of the universe' - well, it doesn't sound like a good thing?

Voodoo nods. "Door back's right there, you so inclined," he says, pointing.

"'course, if you wanna stay and listen a spell, you might find this place ain't as bad as it seems."

Beat.

"Well, it ain't gonna kill ya."

That's...kind of a plus?

"That's... good to know."

She glances back toward the door. "I mean - I don't want to stay if I'm not supposed to be here."

She's not rude, after all.

"You don't have to worry," Diana offers, rising from a nearby table.

"Most of the patrons don't bite."

And those that do, of course, tend not to bite here.

Her eyes widen a little behind the goggles.

"That wasn't what I was worried about..."

Well, until now.

"Was it the appearance of a bar where there ought not be one that had you concerned?"

As far as second guesses go, in Milliways this might not be a bad one.

She lifts her goggles from her eyes, setting them on her helmet instead.

"Something more like that. Did I make a wrong turn?"

[themysciran_diana]

"It's doubtful. But this place has a way of borrowing doors for its own use. I came in much the same way, at least for the first few times."

Diana's smile is warm and just this side of amused.

"Welcome to Milliways. I'm Diana, lately of Themyscira."

[mix_it_up]

That... didn't make much sense to her, but Asami can't ignore the introduction. So she lifts off her helmet, taking a moment to shake out her hair before -

"I'm Asami." She doesn't mention her last name quite yet, but adds, "I'm sorry, I don't think I've heard of - Themyscira."

Dinah, on her way to set the single stem vase in her hands in a booth, stops mid stride. Looks over at the moped, and spends a second in awed silence before she even looks at the person accompanying it.

"Nice moped."

[OOC: Entirely up to you whether you want to run the 'welcome' again. I find three times is the limit?]

"Thanks." Asami glances down at it again, now holding her helmet and goggles under her arm.

"Though if I'd known I was coming here, I might've just walked."

[OOC: ACK! And I'm so sorry for the instant slowtime. Real Life kicked my ass.]

"Where would be the fun in that?" Dinah insists. She takes the time to deposit the vase in question as she talks.

"You can take it outside, or to the garage and open it up. How does it handle?"

[mix_it_up]

"It's all right," she answers, choosing her words out of modesty more than anything else.

"It's small enough that I can get pretty fast and not lose maneuverability. And that's good in the city."

Asami's still not entirely used to the notion of having to explain what 'city' she's referring to.

Dinah doesn't much care. 'The city' means 'any city.'

"That's important," she says. "I prefer a narrower motorcycle for the city, so I can get around the traffic. Nothing annoys me like getting stuck behind some car just because there's no room to overtake."

[mix_it_up]

She nods.

"I've driven motorcycles, too, but I wanted to try something that would ride a little differently."

Then, abruptly, her manners kick. She offers her free hand, and says, "I'm sorry, I'm Asami."
