Fury is sitting at the bar, drinking a cup of coffee.

He's reading a (paper) copy of Stranger In a Strange Land with a thoughtful frown on his face.

Lilly laughs.

"Yeah, it does that."

She glances at him and his 'not-excited' face.

"It doesn't hurt, I promise.


Well. Mostly it doesn't hurt."

"I assure you, Ms. Goodfellow-Kane. While I am very experienced with the expansion of my personal horizons, sometimes the universe throws me a curveball I'm just not expecting."

Judging from his appearance, the curveballs tend to hit him in the face.

"Then you'll probably fit right in," Lilly says cheerfully.

The expansions of personal horizons bit is promising, at least.

"Where are you from originally?"

"Earth. Twenty-first century. Though it's a few steps to the left of some of the others." His outfit isn't very out of place in the bar, but walking down Main Street USA, he'd stick out a bit.

Main Street might side-eye, but Lilly will never disapprove of anyone rocking leather. Plus, ever since Xander and Jack Sparrow, she tends to find eyepatches endearing or sexy.

...jury's still out on Fury.

"Oh hey, me too."

Lilly pauses.

"Maybe not your version? Not sure, I haven't really kept up on Earth news now that it's been a few years since I died."

"My sympathies," he says easily. "I understand how that might not be your first priority."
