Fury is sitting at the bar, drinking a cup of coffee.
He's reading a (paper) copy of Stranger In a Strange Land with a thoughtful frown on his face.
(Somewhere on the tab board, there is a listing for P. Irate.)
[OOC: Closed to new threads after Katya, please! He'll be back. You're all crazy and I love you.]

Or her magical golden lasso.
Much.
"In these circumstances, I don't know that I'm sure how far my own definition of normality needs to stretch, let alone whether my condolences on your lack of same would mean anything at all."
Maybe her lack of eyepatch could be the deciding factor?

"Don't suppose you're looking for a job."

Then she sobers, the intensity of her regard spiking.
"Are you in possession of the sort of problem that assistance from Milliways might prove helpful in solving?"
It's not a 'no'.

"I doubt you'd be willing to swap worlds on a dime, but I don't come across people like you every day."

"I am, indeed, in a similar line of work. My own team is called the Justice League. If that rings a bell, your world might already have a version of me."
Of course, whether that version is good or evil depends on the world, but --
Still.
"But I will agree that my particular skillset is far from run-of-the-mill. And if there is a global -- or wider -- level threat that requires extra support, I might be convinced to offer my aid."
It depends on the problem, of course. And the kind of man Fury turns out to be. So it goes.

He looks her briefly up and down. "You get a lot of extra-global problems?"

Diana shakes her head a little, mouth quirked in what looks like weary ruefulness.
"There are reasons our headquarters were on the moon for a while."
Until they got blown up. Anyway.
"Remind me to tell you about commanding a squadron of space pirates sometime."
Hijinks galore. Also terrible early-nineties pirate fashions.
"You don't? Get a lot of extra-global problems, that is?"

He shakes his head.
"I wouldn't mind a nice moon base, though. Quiet. Could really get some paperwork done there. Read a magazine."

Her smile loses only a little of the ruefulness.
"Shall I hope that defending the solar system remains outside of your job description?"

"To prepare in advance of the no doubt overwhelming necessity soon to come, I would have thought."
Some things are almost inevitable, when it comes to teams of exceptional people, some of whom can fly.
Go figure.

Spy!

"I can drink to that."
Proper preparation prevents poor performance, after all.
Or it ought to, in most cases.

"I wish you luck with all of your red tape. And I suspect I'll be seeing you around. Nick."
And with that, Wonder Woman heads for the front door and her own world.
Nose to the grindstone, indeed.
