Since that strange night, Charles has been an owl. He hasn't seen anyone he knows and has been enjoying flying around outside but he wants to get back to himself. This is awkward and his feathers require a lot of work.

Today he is perched on the back of a chair with a newspaper laid out on the table and a small bowl of nuts. He refuses to eat a mouse or bird even if some of them do look tasty.

(OOC: Open all weekend. Charles will be speaking telepathically into your pup's head if he decides to talk to them. If they have mental shields, let me know, as he's sort of listening, just not as much as usual. Being an owl is distracting. The combination of hope and frustration gets Charles' attention and he turns towards her with a headtilt.

Through entirely too much experience she's very good at reading owl expressions (though perhaps she's just cheating, with curiosity's bubbly pomegranate wine bite making her nose twitch). She waves a hand, an informal gesture of apology.

"Sorry, wrong owl."

Oh, I'm usually not this shape. Some magic went a little wrong.

He's wondering about other owls but there's enough confusion with other timelines, that can wait.

She eyes him, and smirks deeply.

"A little?"

Perhaps it did go right but the antidote didn't quite work. Its confusing, you see I'm a scientist not a magician.

If anything her amusement only deepens at that. A scientist, being overwhelmed by magic?

Yeah, that'll amuse just about every Other out there.

"Not unless you were planning a future career as an owl."

He adjusts his feathers to try and hide some of his discomfort. No, I'm planning a future as a mutant.

That's not exactly what he meant to say but she's disconcerting.

"You are not a child of Chernobyl." She spends so much time amongst the Americans, hearing her land's accents is a treat. "Three Mile Island?"

Maybe he really is rather owl-ish.

Charles doesn't quite bristle but there's some discomfort there, nuclear war never seems that far away.

No, I'm not. Though there is a theory that nuclear power has somehow accelerated evolution but I don't think its a valid theory. Evolution works in its own ways and tempo. I've been a telepath since I was a boy.
