Steph's got some decisions to make. Well, okay, sure, she's actually already made them. Well, it. But also, she's really enjoying air-conditioning and ice cream.

The ice cream really helps with the cognitive process.

She is sitting in the rafters, picking splinters of wood out from her jeans. Nobody polishes up here. Occasionally, a drop of ice cream hits the floor below. It's very melty.

That hat? Goes back a little further, in the universal — or, at the very least, recognizably Southern — gesture for Ho boy, what've I gotten myself into?

She scopes out the lay of the land, smile never leaving her face. When she thinks she has a handle on what she's about to do, she lets out a puff of air and makes eye contact with Steph, nodding once.

She gets a running start, nimbly climbing from chair to table, making the jump to the booth dividers, and then, taking a leap of faith, reaches for Steph's hands.

Small, strong hands catch her and keep the momentum going. Steph might never have actually been a trapeze artist but she did learn a lot from Dick Grayson.

Of course the actual getting-up part depends how good Kate ever was at the monkeybars at school.

If they had monkeybars.

There's a lot of ways this could go wrong, really.

Forethought hasn't been one of Kate's strong suits lately (she thinks, as she goes boots over teakettle), but once she's in the middle of something she commits to it.

"Arrrrrrrggaaaaiiiieeeeee!"

Tough Southern drawl melts into little girl squeak.

But she manages to swing her legs up and find something resembling solid ground. Not that she'll be letting go of Steph anytime soon.

Because she's not.
