Jack's been training with Horus earlier today.
He stayed away from the forests, after what happened last time.
Today, he's finally decided to bring her into the bar again. She's currently secured to the bar top without her hood, although she was wearing it when he brought her in, and it's easily to hand if something does spook her.
Otherwise, Jack is sat eating dinner, with a large mug of hot chocolate, there is an unnatural chill in the air, after all.

He's currently eating dinner. Not a lot distracts him from that. Not after a long day's training. (First, getting back in shape, back home, then with Horus, here).
Horus meanwhile, is gazing around the bar carefully.

Then, he puts his hand near the symbol, and glows slightly with a tiny white ball of light appearing above the hand. It gets to about a centimetre, before he reabsorbs it.

"What's got your attention?" he calls over.

"There's a funny bad chi around, but it's too subtle." he says. "I'm trying to learn to borrow good chi so I can tune out some of the background."
no subject
"Hmm. That."
"Yeah, Enzo said it was wrong." So, source of bad chi, totally believable, as far as Jack's concerned.

"There's something happening. Something bad."

"Don't worry, when we find it, I can help blow it up." he offers.

Nearby, two people are sitting, talking in low voices. At the feet of one, two white lions lie, their expressions alert.
"—and that's your theory, is it?" a female voice asks.
"For the moment, yes," answers a male voice. "But I need further investigation to be sure..."

Jack cocks an ear, as he hears the two people talking.
As he glances over, he catches sight of the lions. Now there's a talking point. Except, they're already in conversation. Best let them keep going.
Horus, on the other hand, disagrees with this plan, and gives a squawk. She knows predators when she sees them.

"Sure, things have been quiet lately, but—"
They turn to look at Jack. And the bird.
It is a very unhappy bird.

Jack, though, reacts by reaching out to Horus, and putting her hood on. That calms her down relatively quickly.
"Hey." Jack calls, to the pair of them. Then, deliberately glancing down to the pair of lions, he asks, "They any danger to her?"
no subject
"No, but I can send them away if they are a bother to your bird? They will not mind."
no subject
"No, it's fine, she can keep the hood on, for now."
Possibly, he shouldn't have taken it off so soon, inside.
no subject
"Everyone—even the animals—seem on-edge lately." Wheel now. "It's quite curious."

He reaches out and gently strokes Horus' feathers.
"Particularly near the forest. I mean, she wouldn't go near it."

"But she's fine while we're away from the forest."
"And I'm healing up well enough. The doc's reckon I could be back on active duty by the end of the year."
He was sporting some bandages, when he first brought Horus in.

This cold is surprising and reminds him too much of what happened before everything fell apart a few months ago.
