Louis enters Milliways with obvious pleasure, scanning the room with lively eyes and a small smile. He inhales deeply, and goes to the bar for a glass of wine.

"Hello, Louis, can I get something for you?"

"Richard," he says with a smile and a slightly searching look to Richard's face. "Indeed. Please. Red wine, room temperature. My indulgence in this place."

He nods and pours a glass of Cafe Zin.

"This is something a little different, but I quite like it."

Louis swirls the glass and inhales the bouquet, then smiles as he takes a sip. "Oh . . . very nice. Rich. I like a flavor that makes you sit up and acknowledge it's there.

"Excellent suggestion, Richard. Thank you."

"I'm glad you like it. What have yo been up to? We hardly see you."

"Nothing worth reporting. Reading. Seeing old sites. Reawakening old memories. I have missed New Orleans." He smiles and sings softly, "'Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans, and miss her each night and day . . .'"

He drinks. "But I understand you've made it your home now."

"Well, I haven't been away from it long enough to miss it yet, but yes, it is our home now.

"When David's Charlie returns I must ask him if he knows this song. It's very old. Quite lovely.

"I wish you and Armand all happiness," he adds, without a trace of irony.

"Do that. Charlie knows nearly everything about music. And...thank you. I know that you and Armand don't have an easy past, so I thank you for keeping the peace."

He cleans the bar.

"I am working on forgiveness. Someday I may even reach friendship again. And people I care about care for him, so . . ." He shrugs. "There is little enough peace in our lives. Best to tend it where it already exists."

"Avec l'âge vient la sagesse," Louis says with a smile and sips from his glass. "Perhaps I merely miss my friends more than I care to admit. There is that, too."

He smiles a bit sheepishly now.

"I'm afraid I don't really speak any French. But I do know that David has missed you."

*From her pearch on the couch, Easter notes the pale, handsome man at the bar and ponders leaving her comfy spot to go talk to him*

With his drink in hand, Louis turns to watch the bar, eyes alight. He sees the woman and bows his head in greeting.

*Having been spotted, she does nothing except smile dazlingly and shift slightly, invitingly.*

Louis accepts the invitation and ambles to her couch. He bows. "May I join you?"

"Certainly sir. My name is Easter, by the way."

"Louis de Pointe du Lac," he answers and sits beside her on the couch. "That is a lovely name, Miss Easter."

"Just Easter's fine. Where are you from, Louis? I haven't seen you around, but then again I haven't been here for long."

"Just Easter, then.

"Louisiana, originally. Here and there ever since. New York most recently, though I've come home for a few weeks to see friends.

"I have not been here long either. This is my . . . third visit, I believe?

"And where are you from?"

"San Fransisco most recently, though I lived in New Orleans for a time. I haven't left since I got here, I'm not even sure I could, but I'm having fun watching the people in the meantime."

"Yes," Louis murmurs, looking around with pleasure. "This is a marvelous place to observe life.

"I am very fond of San Francisco. Beautiful city. Strong heartbeat there."

"Yes, The life there was what drew me. So vibrant and open and welcoming. The city treated me well. Although I'm growing increasingly fond of this place with each passing day as well."

"Oh, yes," Louis agrees. "So many people from so many places. There are times when I prefer no one's company but my own--but when I crave voices and interaction I love places like this, where I can sit and watch and go unnoticed."
