Remy's in the Bar tonight, though it's not the adult version that's been a permanent fixture in the Bar for a while now; tonight Milliways plays host to her younger self while the older is conveniently absent.
When she enters, she regards the room warily for a long moment. She remembers this place somewhat, though, having half-expected it to all have just been a fanciful dream, something to escape the reality of home.
The girl gives herself a visible shake, and with a tattered book in hand, she sets to finding a quiet place to read.

The shake the young woman self-administers catches her attention, followed by the book in her hand. Kate smiles. She's been doing a little reading herself, just soaking up the freedom before she heads back out to Texas to catch up with the others.

"Um...d'you mind if I read here too?"
no subject
"Don't mind at all, sugar. There's plenty of room."
In fact, the patron right next to Kate finishes his tea, and relinquishes his chair.

"Thank you, ma'am."

The girl and the book get one more curious look before Kate extends her right hand.
"I'm Miss Kate Barlow."
no subject
"Remy Hadley."
no subject
"Pleasure t'meet you, Miss Hadley."
She blinks. It isn't the first time she's met a friend here during a different stage of their life, which is good. It keeps her from gawping. Unfortunately, as Remy herself once pointed out, Kate has a terrible poker face.
She smiles quickly.
"What're you readin'?"
no subject
"The Hobbit," she answers, looking down at the book in front of her briefly. "It's my favourite."
no subject
"I'm not familiar with that one. What's it about?"

The girl who comes in merits a half-second of his attention as she comes through the front door - he doesn't recognize her.

Spotting Voodoo on the couch she was aiming for, she shifts nervously.
"'Scuse me. D'you mind if I read here?"
no subject
"All yours, kiddo," he says, nodding to the extra space.

"What's your name?"
no subject
"Remy Hadley, sir."

Remy Hadley.
Doctor Remy Hadley.
Doctor Remy Hadley is in Milliways, as a child, and she just called him sir.
The existential mindfuckery of this is beyond the narrative's abilities of description, but somehow Voodoo manages to clasp Remy's tiny hand in his own massive one and give it a shake.
"Brian Colson. Ain't no need to call me 'sir', I work for a living."
no subject
"Yessir. Sorry."

Eventually, though, her stomach is bound to give her away.

There's just a bit of hesitation as she recognizes her friend, before Rae smiles and says, "Hey, kiddo. Mind helping me out a bit? I need a trustworthy taste-tester."
Rae is sure her credentials will be satisfactory.

"Okay."

"I gotta know: are there too few chocolate chips, or too many - as though that were possible," she interjects with a grin, "or just the right amount?"
