As of today Varric has missed no fewer than nineteen critically important meetings of the Dwarven Merchants' Guild. That's what he calls cause for celebration. Preferably in the Hanged Man, but hey, if Milliways shows up instead he'll take what he can get.

"Oh," he says as his flagon appears, "and while I'm at it, could I have a bound book of blank pages and a quill and some ink? I've got a couple of ideas for new serials I wanted to write down while my beloved brother is busy arguing with the Guild instead of me."

There's an untapped market in City Guard fiction, and far be it from Varric to leave a market like that untapped for long.

"Varric, good afternoon."

This was said by Matilda, dressed in proper clothing (in this case a skirt, jumper and stockings) and with several books from the library.

Milliways was indeed a better area to read in than her own home, or even her room. Sure, there was noise, but it was lively and not meant to be distracting-least not as she saw it.

"What're you writing?"

"Some books." Of course. "One is called 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and the other I'm just finishing up is called 'The Jungle Books'." With Milliways, she liked to bring more than one book, just incase one was poor, she would read that one quicker to just be done with it.

"Ohh...what sort of stories?" She immediately pulled up a chair to his table. Her parents never read to her so actually hearing someone tell her a story was very exciting.

She shook her head. "These take place in India, the animals are comparing their world to Man's."

Her eyes are wide as she listens in. "That sounds like a good way to go. I know books like Robin Hood are supposed to make 'villains' seem like heroes, but it's interesting to see a story from people that are 'bad guys'."

It was a perfect sort of mystery story, the good kind where there's a body and not merely a lost jewel or statue. Even more so because the characters in the story aren't 'noble' or of a high status.

She nodded. "It's another country in my world, different from England."

She set the books on the table, momentarily forgotten. "Is this a true story, inspired, or completely made up?" Not that it mattered as far as she was concerned, but fiction sometimes lended more freedom-or so she believed.
