At the end of the bar, Steve Rogers is having a polite conversation. (He rarely has any other kind.) Half of it is being carried out by a pile of napkins.

"Nothing too ostentatious, but something that's also meaningful."

Napkin.

"Chocolates seems like a cliche, don't you think? And unless I could somehow get those chocolates from Paris that we got that one time--"

Napkin. And a small box that bears the name of a chocolaterie that you can find in the Louvre.

"You are amazing, ma'am. But don't you think it needs something more romantic, too?"

Napkin, and a red rose.

"Ma'am, I could kiss you."


Captain America will gladly wish you a Happy Valentine's Day, though it's his sweetheart that he's looking for.

Jack's sitting a couple stools down, making a face at the pink cupcake that's appeared next to his cup of coffee, the pink icing dotted with little sugar hearts.

He's pretty sure the thing could send him into an insulin coma just looking at it.

Glancing over, he spots Steve, and nods at the chocolates and the rose.

"Expecting someone?"

Steve nods, smiling. "The first Valentine's Day we've spent together. Time's been a little ... uneven for us."

Jack gives him a wry smile. "If it's someone you know from in here, yeah, I can see how that would happen."

"We met here.

"You're Jack, aren't you? It's been a long time."

[trigger_man]

"Yeah, Jack Bauer," he says, offering his hand for a handshake. "And you're Steve, if I remember correctly. I haven't been in much in the last...few months, I think."

"That's right, Steve Rogers." He shakes Jack's hand.

"Has it been busy at home?"

[trigger_man]

Jack shrugs. "Not too busy, but I've been moving around a fair bit for work, and so doors don't always pop up wherever I go," he says. It's a vague version of the truth, but close enough.

"Do you have a stable door back home?" he asks.

"I didn't for a while, but I do now. It helps if you have something from the bar with you, though. I use a matchbook."

"Sometimes. Occasionally I've found a break from this place isn't a bad thing," he says. Especially after he'd been taken over by an evil tree god, and made to attack another patron without knowing what he was doing.

"Though it's a bit different if you have someone special in here, too."

Steve smiles to himself. "I have a long break once or twice. I don't like it."

"I can see that. The one drawback of staying out for a while is not knowing what's going on with friends in here that aren't from my world. If your 'special someone' isn't from your world, I can imagine that would make it harder."

Steve nods. "Once I was kept out for almost six weeks. It was torture."

"Though if I remember correctly, you probably had a fair bit to keep you busy back at home," Jack says with a slight smile.

He won't mention how long he's been out of the bar sometimes, as he didn't have quite the same incentive as Steve to be in it.

Zoey didn't know what day it was, mostly because she doesn't keep a normal sleeping schedule and isn't the biggest fan of said holiday anyway.

"Nice flower." She wasn't exactly serious, almost teasing the older man but not quite. "I wasn't aware Valentine's Day was here already."

"Neither was I, but who am I to argue with the bar's calendar?" He grins, twirling the flower.

Zoey chuckled. "I'm not much for this holiday myself, but it might be because I don't have anyone to share it with."

"This is the first time I have," Steve confides. "It makes a big difference."

"Maybe." He did bring out a valid point. "I'm Zoey by the way. You?"

"My name's Steve."

[snowpointvictor]

"Nice to meet you."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Nice to meet you, too. Where are you from?"

The question catches Zoey off guard for a moment, but just a moment. She gave a small sigh before responding. "Snowpoint City, in the Sinnoh region. I'd be surprised if you heard of it, honestly."

"No, I haven't," Steve says apologetically.

"It's fine." She said as Zoey reassured Steve. "I've been here for some time so I've gotten used to it."

"A lot of people do seem t come from the same baseline Earth, don't they?" says Steve.

He also thinks a lot more worlds have superheroes than actually do.
