"Shiva wept!" Autor yelps, crumpling to the floor of his room in a heap.

He expected every break, sprain, and bruise to stick around after he changed back, so he wasn't surprised at his unsteadiness when his Lego-fused braces dissolved.

But what was viciously unpleasant was that the medication he'd been popping to keep from feeling every break, sprain, and bruise dissipated when his bloodstream changed.

And that he had to feel everything snap again--all at once--in his new bones.

The boy laugh-sobs, quietly sick, and props himself up in the doorframe to catch a wait rat by the tail. When it returns, he takes some tea and some ice and some serious pain pills, and waits for it all to kick in so he can drag himself down to the infirmary.

And so, just because he's in a genuinely good mood and he can't exactly move, heirDrosselmeyer is signed on.

"No," Autor says, grinning. "That's what I was yesterday. Today I'm a monklet."

"That dips his head demurely and swears he'll ever be chaste," Poins smirks. "What is the difference?"

Autor thinks about it for a moment, and then offers the man a careful, one-shouldered shrug. "One dons lacy things."

"It would be odd were a chaste monklet to wear those frilly wench-clothes under his rough habit," Poins says, eyeing Autor.

"I am odd but not that odd," Autor scoffs, "nor a masochist, as the texture is like to drive one mad. You can have them if you want them; elsewise they'll gladly see the fire, as I've said."

"Oh I would keep them, and one day, I'll see a wench in them," Poins says.

Autor turns his head away as a blush scalds his face. "I don't even--" he sputters.

"Well. Yes, well, good luck with that. You do whatever you want, but that thing is so dreadful, I doubt a wench will want to put it on, even for you."

"For sooth, it might be pleasing!" Poins says, holding the garment between his eyes and Autor, and squinting at it.

Autor yelps, rather flustered and undignified already, and turns his head away.

"Tch," he snaps, "stop imagining me."

"I cannot stop my mind from running off," Poins says, "and thou knowest well which vantage it would run to!"

Autor would flail if he could. But he has learned the lesson that moving is awful at the moment. "Yes, unfortunately, I do," he says. "Primarily because it means you've corrupted me more than I thought."

The boy pops his nose in the air, not at all wench-like. "I'm fairly certain it wouldn't fit me as I am now anyway; I was much shorter then, and lighter, too. But thank you for that image."

"I thank thee, also, my fair friend," Poins laughs.

"And now I regret not burning the thing, much less mentioning it at all," he says. "It would have been just as pretty in a fire."

Still, he offers Poins a pale-faced, somewhat goofy grin. "Don't say I never gave you anything? Or something."

"Thou didst, and I for sooth am glad of it," Poins laughs.

"You should be," Autor says, suddenly very amused. "Because you called me a fair friend and I had to prove that I was one."

"Thou art a fair, sweet monklet, by my troth!" Poins laughs.

[herr_bookman]

"Tsk, tsk, you keep calling me sweet and yet you've not tasted me," the boy says, a little giggly. "Which is probably very unfair indeed, but so much like a monklet."

"Should I then dare and take a bite from thee?" Poins says. "I'm not a fearsome mermaid that would eat a man as soon as kiss him."

[herr_bookman]

"Oh, the mermaid!" Autor says, flushed. "She's so pretty, Poins. You'd think so, too, I think. First kisses aren't that important, are they? She showed me the squiddies afterwards."

It is now safe to say that his opiates have kicked in.

"She kissed thee, also?" Poins laughs. "Oh indeed, 'tis worthy of thy note! Hal and I have swum with her as well, some weeks ago."

[herr_bookman]

"Did you!" Autor says, pleased as punch. "Aren't the squiddies adorable? Her breasts were bigger than mine--and yours, too, I think--but I didn't pay that much attention. I liked her hair. Congratulations on not being eaten all the way."

"Oh, we were only eaten in the nicest way," Poins laughs.

[herr_bookman]

"Oh, goodness, I hope her nibbles won't get infected," the boy says, leaning his head back on the doorframe. "You're lovely, Poins, and I'd hate to lose you to something like that."

Poins laughs wildly.

"She did not bite my flesh in such a way that it would hurt!" he snorts.

[herr_bookman]

Autor laughs with him. "Oh, good! She told me that men have nice, nutritious livers, and I can't imagine that removing a liver is painless."

He tilts his head, smiling sleepily. "You have a nice liver, Poins. I like your liver."
