As Charles was feeling in the mood to read something different, he asked Bar for a recommendation and she gave him a book that grabbed his attention.

She gave him a fantasy book that deals with some familiar themes and has given him some ideas for approaching the world. As Bar likes to protect her patrons, its in a blank cover that doesn't show what it is. Since the weather is nice, he's reading outside by the garden with an iced tea as he reads.

(OOC: Charles is listening passively as he's concentrating more on reading. Please let me know your character's thoughts in the narration or why Charles wouldn't be able to hear them. Thank you. I am done with the school year! This is open until it scrolls. All threads are set before the one with Sallie.)

"Yes, I do and I can believe that, but you're doing a lot of good."

"I don't doubt that. But I think everyone involved will be glad when we can go home." A day Howard can almost see coming now.

"Oh yes, war changes how life is lived on every level."

Yes, he thinks, it's made me richer.

"As long as we can live through it."

"I think you can,"

Charles doesn't know Howard's story but he seems like someone that will live through the war.

"That is my plan." He thinks he has a great future ahead of him, from what a few have told him.

"And what have you been up to?"

"Much of the same work as before, just endlessly refining it."

"Doesn't that get a bit dull?" The interesting think about working for the SSR? It's shown Howard there is more to life than making things fly. A lot of new vistas have been opened up.

"No, it doesn't. Its some of the most interesting work I've ever done."

"That, my friend, is why I doubt I will ever be an academic." Or pursue any sort of PhD.

"Oh, I'm not an academic at the moment. I'm doing work that's closer to yours now just to suit my purposes."

"What do you mean?" You've caught his interest, Charles.

"I'm working with the CIA at the moment, because they have some ways to help me further my work."

"The what?" The CIA is three years in Howard's future. Not that Howard knows that.

"Oh the CIA, they were called the OSS in your time."

"Ah. Yes, I know about them." Colonel Phillips has some sort of rivalry with the man in charge of it.

"I see. They're doing interesting work."

"That's very hush hush, even not taking into account that it's in some like my future." Howard knows how both games are played.

"Yes, well, they came to me and so far we're making progress."

"And you are learning all sorts of things about electronics?" Things Howard might be inventing now, or soon.

"Some but I'm mainly leaving that work to Hank and Erik."

"The technical experts?"

"For some aspects of it, yes, but in others I know more than they do," Cerebro is complicated.

"And are you ready to go back to school for your degree in engineering," Howard asks with a small smirk.

"No, not yet."
