As Charles was feeling in the mood to read something different, he asked Bar for a recommendation and she gave him a book that grabbed his attention.

She gave him a fantasy book that deals with some familiar themes and has given him some ideas for approaching the world. As Bar likes to protect her patrons, its in a blank cover that doesn't show what it is. Since the weather is nice, he's reading outside by the garden with an iced tea as he reads.

(OOC: Charles is listening passively as he's concentrating more on reading. Please let me know your character's thoughts in the narration or why Charles wouldn't be able to hear them. Thank you. I am done with the school year! This is open until it scrolls. All threads are set before the one with Sallie.)

"Good and I know she'll have good advice for you. Let me know how I can help you to adjust. I have a lot of practice with other minds."

Claudia sighs. "Now that I have more than five minute's notice, I... need to get more information before I know what I want out of this. But Joshua's going to have access to that information now, so if I can't drag it out of Artie I can get him to help."
She's still not sure she wants any part of this. She doesn't do well with things framed as Big Important Destinies, and the lack of warning threw her, and she has yet to shut up that nagging doubt that they only kept her around in the first place because of this, and she did so well with losing everyone she cared about the first time.
(But she'll at least have Joshua for a while.)

"More information is always good and you're wanted, that's important. Also I understand about when others look at you and see something that you're not yet, its not easy, but if you take what you want from their vision then it becomes yours,"

The destiny sounds difficult, but he's found taking what fits with your view of the future works.

"We'll see. At least I know I'll have some company no matter what. And I don't need to get drunk again."
Once was plenty.

"No, I can't imagine that would help."

Claudia shrugs. "We got a fun round of Munchkin out of it, at least. I think Joshua ended up more drunk than I did, but then, he had a bunch of beers and I only had the one drink."
It was a very, very alcoholic drink, but that's why she only got the one. She knew she wouldn't need more than that.

"What's Munchkin? Well, if you're going to get drunk, its good to go in with a plan."

"Card game." It's hard to explain, especially to someone who won't have the context of D&D to put it in, so she just thinks of some of the details. "Somehow, the decks we ended up with here have a bunch of Warehouse cards mixed in. Adds to the fun."
The games tend to come to a screeching halt when she draws MacPherson.

"That sounds interesting. I'd love to play sometime. How is Joshua taking all the changes?"

It seems like he must have also had a chaotic week.

"Flailing at the very idea that anyone would want to give him responsibility, of course." Claudia rolls her eyes. "But he always does that. Otherwise I think he's adjusting pretty well."

"I'm not surprised, but hopefully this will show him that he knows more than he realizes."

"I think it will, once he gets going. And he's definitely gonna be jumping in feet-first, what with HG's situation."
(Claudia hasn't gone home yet, so she hasn't been through the meeting weekend yet.)

"I think I might have met HG here. Beautiful woman with dark hair?"

"Yep, that's her. She got whammied hard by something in Egypt and... kinda tried to kidnap Joshua. But one of the side effects was a hell of a lot of snow, so they couldn't go anywhere, and then he worked out she had an Artifact, so no harm done."
She did tell Joshua she was worried someone would go after him for the time-travel research... But at least this ended well.

"I'm glad it did work out as that sounds like it could easily turn bad."

"Yeah, we... kinda lucked out, in a way. Doesn't feel like it, but she had much worse plans up her sleeve at one point."
But that's HG's story to tell, really.

"I see and now its the point where everyone deals with what happens? Can I help?"

"Pretty much. Joshua's first meeting's probably going to be about What To Do With Her, but - she was whammied. Makes it hard to control your actions." If anything, she had more control over getting magnetized to the ceiling than HG did over running off to Geneva for the world's current expert in time travel.
"As far as helping goes... I need information I can't get here, and otherwise it's up to her if she lets you. She's kind of a professional at bottling things up."
(Funny thing, though: she seemed awfully relaxed around Joshua.)

"Well, do pass on the offer and I'll try to speak with her again. I hope it can get settled cleanly."

"I will. And I'm sure Joshua will flail at you at some point." He's good at that, especially now that he has people.

"I'll keep an eye out for him as well. Though I'm certain he'll do far better than he expects to."

"This is Joshua. The only person who doesn't know that is him."

"I know, but if enough people tell him, he might even believe it."

"Maybe." She fully expects that'd take a decade at minimum. But you never know.

"I for one aim to keep trying and if I can figure out a way for him to help me, I'll take it. The same goes for you as well."
