The bar door opens wide and hits its baseboards with a slam, a blur of brown leather somersaulting in to land on the floor.

At least when he lands, he still has both pistol and honest-to-Fozu bag of platinum.





...but Mal might need to stay on the floor. Just for a minute.

Mal doesn't say anything so much as hold up a bag that reads BELLEROPHON SAVINGS AND TRUST across the label.

...Huh. She tilts her head to read it, and raises an eyebrow.

"What's in it?"

"Money?"

"You don't say," she replies, dry as dust. "I meant what in particular."

"Platinum. Most secure form o' pay in my world."

"Damn. That's stuff's expensive even in my world," she says. "Must be a small fortune in that thing."
