Claudia went to the bar to ask for a drink.
What she got is a cupcake with nine candles in it.
She's confused, but not exactly objecting.

"What's with the cupcake?" Joshua walks over, goo in his hair and down his left side. "It's not anyone's birthday, as far as I know."

Claudia shrugs. "Hell if I know, but if the Bar really wants to give me chocolatey goodness I'm not about to object. You fall in a goo vat or something?"

One appears for Joshua as well, covered in green icing, along with maroon and teal candles. "... ok, I do not get this, but hey. I'll take a cupcake." He blows out the candle and a bit of goo drops out of his hair on Bar. "Uhm. Not as much a goo vat as I accidentally knocked the goo hose." He pauses. "Don't ask. I'm not even sure how I accomplished it." The security camera would probably tell a hilarious story. "The closest shower I could think of was here."

"I have no idea what the color scheme has to do with anything." Claudia's cupcake is decked out in red and black icing.
"Oops. Bet the security cameras would say."

"These colors don't even go together." He takes a bite. "Tasty, though. Apple. It's Bar, It probably isn't supposed to make sense." Another bite. "And don't you dare look. I... uh, might've slid around a bit."

[claudiometer]

"Who cares about the color scheme if it tastes good?"
Claudia raises an eyebrow. "You're not exactly encouraging me to avoid looking, brother dear."

"That's true." He pauses. "Don't you dare. I'll lock you out of it." He might not be a hacker, but he does have an uberpassword. ... that his sister can probably either guess or hack right through.

[claudiometer]

"And how long will locking me out last?"
She gives it ten minutes at the absolute most. And that's assuming she gets sidetracked by something else in the middle.

"Hush." Joshua grumps, finishing off his cupcake. "I will have ways. I have to have ways."

[claudiometer]

"I have more ways."
And a loooooot of practice at making new ones.

"I have... Regent ways." He pauses. "And brother ways."

[claudiometer]

"And I have 'hacked into the place twice now' ways, as well as 'what the hell are you even talking about?' ways."
Because really, this conversation is just getting ridiculous.

Moist swipes a bit of frosting from the cupcake before sitting down, "What's the occasion?"

Claudia shrugs. "Your guess is as good as mine, Al. But if the occasion's free cupcakes I'll take it."

"Well, it is tasty."

[claudiometer]

"That it is. Bet you could get one of your own if you asked."
She's not really annoyed, just trolling him.

"Yes, but yours is right here."

[claudiometer]

Claudia rolls her eyes. "And mine is mine, Al. If you ask for one, it'll be right here too."

He sticks his tongue out at her and orders a pastry.

"You know I'm obligated to give you a hard time, right?"

"Yes, its almost flattering and nicer than Teja's watching me and waiting for me to do something wrong."

Claudia shrugs. "What you do to other people isn't my jurisdiction. You mess with my stuff, we'll have words, but that's my stuff. And if you steal my brother's Artifacts you deserve the whammy - we've both warned you and you've lived through one."
She didn't bring it up at home because the caffeine thingy wasn't in the Warehouse yet.

He doesn't like getting caught.

There is a man, a relatively recent arrival, at the open piano, pondering the keys but not playing yet.

When Claudia gets her cupcake, he turns and looks; and then he launches into a cheerful piano transposition of the 'ragtime' version of Gidon Kremer's 'Happy Birthday' variations.
