When Steve sits at the bar, the first thing he gets is a cupcake with red, white and blue frosting and Happy 95th Birthday!.

"Yeah, yeah," he says in a good-natured tone, because even he has given up trying to keep track of how old he is. Twenty-eight, ninety-five, two? Ninety-five is probably the most accurate.

The second thing he gets is a napkin: Want to bartend today?

Yes. Yes, he does. The Big Book of Drinks even has a patriotic section.

"Well, you, um." Awkward Steve is awkward! "The bright colors."

He looks at the specials board. "No, they've all got alcohol in them. One is an alcoholic lemonade, though--I can make it without the vodka."

"That would be delicious. Thank you."

Festive, hmm?

"Is today a festival day in your world?"

"It is," Steve confirms as he starts preparing the lemonade. "It's the day my country declared its independence from the tyranny that ruled it."

"That is something that my world celebrates as well - the day of the formation of Republic City after the war ended.

"What does one say, at such an occasion?"

"'Happy Fourth of July,' or 'Happy Independence Day.'" Steve adds a lemon slice to the glass and gives it to Tenzin. "What do they say on yours?"

"Happy Avatar Day."

A tilted kind of smile. "Or Happy Father's Day, depending on who you ask."

"Is it hard, having that whole day to celebrate him when he's not there?" He adds, "I've talked about it a little with your brother."

That is a surprise.

"Bumi spoke to you about Father? Hmm.

"To answer your question, no - the day celebrates his achievements. I celebrate who my father was in another fashion."

"He explained what an avatar is, and the fact that the latest one was your father came up.

"How do you celebrate him?"

"Praticing airbending. Training others to maintain the traditions that my father worked so tirelessly to preserve.

"And sometimes also this."

"Dad was slightly different than other people. My children find it funny."

Okay, so Steve? Steve loves bending. Every kind of bending that he's seen, he thinks they're amazing.

So this makes him laugh with delight, probably much like Tenzin's children. "That is so neat!"

Tenzin laughs despite himself. "It is amusing. It also makes for a nice ice-breaker at times.

"Perhaps I should try it at a council meeting."

"That would ease tension," Steve agrees.

"If their tensions eased I'm fairly certain they would fall apart," Tenzin jibes.

"Thank you for the lemonade, Steve. And...Happy 4th."

"You too, huh? Bureaucracy is the same everywhere."

"You're welcome, and thanks."
