After coming back to Milliways, Iris very quietly asked for a room key - her room key, from very long ago - and went to sleep.

Peace and privacy, for the first time in over a decade.

This morning, Iris woke up and tried to open her Door. It is visible, but the knob doesn't even budge.

Now, several hours later, Iris has asked the bar for some water. The glass remains mostly untouched while she starts composing several letters.

"Say the truth and then decide which parts of it you want them to know."

"The truth?" You say that like it is the easiest of things to articulate.

"Its a place to begin," He shifts to hug her as he thinks. I know.

"There are so many questions that remain."

Am I trapped here?
Have I died in my world?
Do I go to yours? Will you stay with me?
Is a goddess still a goddess without her appointed work?

"I think the second one is no, she was clear about that. You are you no matter where you are and I love you."

I can't see the future but I see you.

"I think...for now, I will keep my room here.

"And if you like, you should request a copy of the key from the bar."

"Are you sure? I can always knock and ask you?" Having a space all your own is a precious thing.

Iris looks down at her lap for a moment. More out of indecision, more than anything else.

"Is that what I should do?"

If I want to be away from you, I could simply disappear. But - there are new rules now.

He meets her gaze and gently runs his hand through her hair, "I can't tell you that. You have to figure it out."

Iris moves gently against the movement of Charles' hand, even as she huffs a sigh at Charles' lack-of-usefulness.

"If you are going back to your world, you should have a key here. If you are staying, perhaps my neighboring room is available."

The huff makes him smile but he can't answer her questions for her,

"Then I'll stay in your room tonight if you want me to."

That's another discussion we should have.

I am not trying to insert myself in your world. But, I do know that I will tire of staying only in Milliways for a long while.

I want you to visit and show you what's happening. Though I don't know if it will provide anything answers.

He seems to be finding more questions every time he turns around.

I would help you in your cause.

Which, while well-meaning, it is probably not the best time for Iris to insert herself into another war.

I know and I'll figure out a way for you to.

Iris smiles them. "I'd thought you would disapprove."

"I'd be glad of your advice and maybe you can see more than I can."

"Higher vantage point."

Ba-dum-shhh.

"Will you tell your loved ones at home the news?"

"I will, we will," He's worried about the sort of faces that Erik will make.

So is Iris.

But that makes sense.

A change of topic: I still have my wings. And flight. I am missing the symbols of my office.

"Have you gone flying yet?"

"Only as a test."

It was raining earlier, and that is...slightly awkward, at the moment.

He nods and kisses her on the lips, he loves that she can still fly.

As much as Iris appreciates the contact (and oh she does; after a decade and more, and you remembered me -- )

"What was that for?"

"Because I can and I'm happy you're still flying."
