The woman walking into the bar today still has the remains of eyeliner and glitter around her eyes, but the clothes themselves are a perfectly ordinary set of shorts and fitted t-shirt.

If anyone asks, Nadine was at a party last night. And, because she can, Natasha is going to make sure that party was way, way more fun than 'Tanya's' waitressing shift.

Mostly, though, she's going to claim a couch, slip off her tennis shoes, and curl her feet up, just because she can.

"They always will," she says, almost fond.

Then,

"You have a heightened endurance?"

"It is not terrible," X says awkwardly.

Then --

"Yes. It is useful."

She could dissemble, and say, 'yes, I imagine so.'

Instead, she says;

"It is. I'm still a fan of catnaps, though."

(Her endurance, after all, isn't never ending.

"It is sensible," X acknowledges.

"I do not like sleeping. Much."

"Any particularly reason, X?

Or just not to your liking?"

X shrugs, one-shouldered and quick.

She has only had one good dream, and that one was due to Dream himself.

"I am more useful when I am awake."

The phrasing is disquieting, but Natasha breathes out evenly despite it.

"I can't argue with that. And it can be nice, when it feels like the world's asleep, but you're awake in it."

X only looks a little startled.

"You like it, too?"

She smiles.

"I do. My favourite part of being awake at night."

X does not smile in return, but the set of her shoulders relaxes.

"Quiet is nice. Sometimes."

"Sometimes," Natasha agrees, and then sighs.

"Particularly when you don't have it."

(Someone would really like to go home.)

"Oh."

X pauses to consider that.

"I know it is not really quiet. Here."

She hesitates.

"But there are places."

Natasha shifts her head on the couch, settling to look at X more comfortably.

"What kind of places?"

"Near the Caribbean inlet," X offers. "Behind the rocks."

Beat.

"And in the forest."

In particular locations in the forest, that is.

She raise her eyebrows; not disbelieving, but interested.

"I haven't done nearly enough exploring of this place, it seems."

X pauses for a second, considering.

Then --

"The vantage points from the rocks are clearer."

In case that is relevant.

(Trees are problematic.)

"Thank you," she says quietly, seriously.

"I'll have to come in dressed for hiking, and take a look."

X just nods, once.

"I like it there."

Splinter uses it for meditation sometimes, too.

It is . . . nice.

"I believe it. I have a place in the forest myself, buuuuut-"

She grins, a little.

"I suspect coming here's a bit cheaper if I miss the trees."

"It is likely," X agrees.

"Unless you can teleport."

"Unfortunately, no," and her tone is honestly regretful.

That would have been cool.

"Stuck with normal transport. Does mean I have time to catch up on my reading, though."

X blinks. Twice.

"I do not understand."

"I use public transport a lot, so I read, or listen to audiobooks. I also listen to audiobooks when I drive," Natasha explains easily enough.

"Not enough hours in the day, otherwise."

X absorbs that. Then --

"You read -- fiction?"

She smiles.

"A lot of it, yes. Particularly speculative fiction, I've been a fan for...a while. But I also read a lot of non-fiction. History, science, studies, etc."
