Something is rotten in the state of South Dakota.
Well, okay, rotten is an exaggeration, but everyone's more restless than they want to let on, and Claudia's just about run out of things to stress-hack. So she's in Milliways for the night, at a table, with a Mountain Dew despite the late hour and a project spread out in front of her.
Might as well see how well her Tesla grenade idea will work, right?

Moist carefully doesn't touch anything as he looks at Claudia's table, he's in a buttondown shirt and comfortable flannel trousers as he sips a beer,

"What are you working on?"

Oh, you mean he learned from getting zapped last time he tried that? Good to know.
"Tesla grenade. Multi-target."

"How does it work? I'd think lightning would be difficult to control that way,"

He knows she can probably do it but still it seems more dangerous than the guns.

It's the ball part she's worried about. The electricity part? That's old hat by now.

"That sounds incredibly effective. Your imagination is a terrifying place."

"And yours isn't, Al?"
There is a reason she likes him despite everything.

"I'm not sure I'd use terrifying. I try to avoid violence."

Claudia raises an eyebrow. "But this is very pointedly not violent. It's just a stun gun. Besides, a thing doesn't have to be violent to be terrifying."

"Its lightning in a ball, I wouldn't want it used against me. What's so terrifying about me?"

Look at his innocent face.

"You talk people into giving you all their money. What's not terrifying about that?"

"Not all their money just some of it and I'm just doing business."

"Yeah, that's what the banks said, too." And no one believes it from them.
"Do I even want to know what you've been up to lately?"

"Going to garden parties and listening to lots of boring stories,"

He would point out that's why people believe him, he's good at acting like he works at a bank.

"And I assume that snore-fest has a good payoff waiting out the other end, or you wouldn't be bothering."

"Oh yes, I've endeared myself to a lot of silly dears who are to help me with a few ideas."

"Are they now." That might be a slight eyeroll on Claudia's part, but hey, who is she to judge? She hacked her way into a top-secret facility to reach her goals.

"Yes, I'm rather under appreciated but they see all the possibility in me."

"I bet they do. And at what point are you going to find yourself comically engaged to a floozy and have to untangle yourself from it?"

"That's never happened to me. Engagements are as much trouble as violence,"

One night stands on the other hand are a different matter.

"Really? You get on-demand mad science lightning and no romance novel tropes? That's no way to run a universe."
Hey, at least she's cracking jokes now.

"Those happen to other people though I have jumped out of a few beds and windows. Not due to complaints."

Claudia snorts. "Noooo, generally if you're jumping out of a window it's because the pissed-off SO just turned up."

"They're never as understanding as they could be. No one ever says, that looks fun, let me join you."

"No one other than Helena Wells, hipster poly atheist, anyway, but we're veering into territory I don't need to think about, there."
She doesn't need to know that much about her brother's sex life kthx.

Moist is happy to think about it and is lost in happy thought.

Claudia's just going to facepalm now. "Ooooooof course."

"What, threesomes are fun. You should try one."

"I think I can handle my own private life, thanks."
Besides, she's much more invested in the whole, you know, 'relationship' concept than Moist is. It would depend on the people involved a lot more than it does for him.

He shrugs, "Ah well, good luck with that."

"Besides, knowing you, your line of thought probably included my brother. And I'm glad y'all are enjoying... whatever you want to call it, but he's still my brother and I don't need the details."

"Names tend to hamper things and I won't share them but they're there if I ever need them."
