EP: Kate Barlow | Main Bar, Library (age spell plot)
It had been a quiet day for Kate when the loud BWA-BOOOOOOOM shook the bar. She'd just settled down after her nightly chores in the stables, easing the tension out of her back in an armchair by the fire, sipping on a hot tea with bourbon in.
(It's getting close to All Hallows' Eve, and that's making her anxious.)
However, she didn't have all that long to think about the approaching holiday before she was seeing the room from an even lower vantage point, face scrunched in distaste at the liquor on her tongue. She blinked at the teacup and quickly set it down, jumped to her feet, and looked around the strange room.
" ... Daddy?"
Kate Barlow, aged twelve, was off in search of her father.
What she found instead were the libraries.
Now, far calmer, a young Kate sits amid a pile of books, occasionally sweeping cautious glances around the room. She's finding the words of Jules Verne to be a comfort at present. Clearly she slipped and bumped her head during chores, or stumbled onto a glorious vessel somewhere in deep space. She isn't quite sure what to make of it right now, but anywhere with an endless supply of science fiction can't be all that bad.
[ooc: open forever! you may find Kate in the library or the main bar. if your character wants to be in on a heist, they can take this opportunity to meet Kate. the actual heist will happen in a later post, so it's not required you tag this one (I'll update all interested parties once it's all in place). if you'd like me to send Kate round to one of your posts, just let me know!

"Me too. They've got wonderful books here; lots of 'em have colored pictures inside. It's wonderful."

She catches herself before she can babble on.
"Ah, my name's Katherine. What's yours?"

She hesitates before clasping her hand gently.
"Are you from around these parts?"

Or so they say.
"Me neither. I was mindin' my own business when I suddenly looked around me an' saw this place. I don't even remember walkin' in. I figure it must be some kinda magic."
no subject
"That's what I figure, too. Not much else to explain it away."

Her voice is hushed, in case anyone is eavesdropping.
"They've got all kinds of strange creatures here, an' I must admit I don't for the life of me know what a fairy looks like."

Kate had kinda been hoping she was the heroine of some yet to be told story, journeying through time all on her lonesome to fight her way through a strange new place. This is all right, too.
"Curious. I'd like to know who's in charge."
no subject
"I've seen some adults around, too, but none of them really look like they're in charge."
no subject
"Maybe the children are in charge, then."
Or maybe they should be.

"Wouldn't that be somethin'?"
no subject
"It really, really would."
no subject
"Maybe you an' I should elect a mayor, then. Or a sheriff. I could be sheriff!"
no subject
"That is, if you get elected."
no subject
"Are you sayin' you wouldn't vote for me?"
no subject
"Who knows, I might like to be Sherriff, too."
no subject
"You're my competition, then! That's all right. I'll show you I'm the meanest, orneriest, fastest gunslinger in these here parts."
All right, it's kinda hard not to grin a little after delivering such a line.

Kate giggles, covering her mouth with a hand.
"All right, then. Perhaps we should have a duel to decide who gets to be the law 'round here."
