[oom: Guppy recovers from the events in the bar, and explains them to the kids.]
It's a fun time of year for festivals, and on the eve of Diwali, Guppy has the older two kids outside by the lake, playing with sparklers.
"How come you and Coral get to wear a dress?" Fry is complaining to his father. "And I don't?"
"It's not a dress, it's a kurta." Guppy says. "If you really want to wear one we'll make you one next year."
"Is mine a kurta?" Coral asks.
"No honey, they're for men, yours would have been a lehenga if you'd worn it." Guppy says, handing her a sparkler. "What you have on is your dinosaur patterned skirt."
The kids step back and twirl around on the grass, with their sparklers casting rainbow sparkles in the night.

Teja comes out from the forge while the cats peer very warily from the windows.
[[OOC: I do think that Fry's pronouncement on Urq is something like the final word to the subject -- love it!!]]

Fortunately they're not having any of the big fireworks - Guppy had quite enough of them working in the emergency department - so Coral potters over to show Teja.
"Look I can write my name." she says, writing out c a r o l in the sky.
"O before A and that's okay." Fry comments, glancing over.
Coral writes it out again, the right way around.

"How would one light it?" he asks.

Guppy hands Teja his gloves, for simplicity.
"With a cigarette lighter." Guppy says, getting one out.

"Practically speaking, it's a bit like Christmas." he says. "But because we celebrate both we only do one set of presents, we do clothes and sweets for Diwali though."

"My grandmother married an Indian man who had arrived in the UK." Guppy says. "My grandparents the other side travelled over together."
