Grace Augustine once told Adrian Shephard to his face that he was too smart to be a Marine. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, her head is still attached to her spinal column despite having done so. We bring this up only because whoever stumbles across Shephard in the Bar today will find him with a textbook open in front of him, scribbling furiously away on a semi-organic computer tablet as he reads, which may feed somewhat into that general impression. At least until he opens his mouth.

(It is not entirely what it looks like, but his handwriting is almost painfully small; you would have to get pretty close or have awfully good eyesight to compare the two texts.)
