Happy Hour
When William reaches the counter, he just sits down and keeps making notes in a small notebook he has. Since he has the time as he's waiting for when Ellen needs his help, he's been doing his best to calculate what it would take to get Mark to school.
He doesn't want to count too much on the person who left that money and there is some saved up from his father's death but not a lot. A napkin appears and he stops and nods, going around behind the counter to first pour a cup of coffee before starting to carefully write some specials.
Specials
Coffee
Whiskey
Beer
Vodka
What sort of school did you go to? Tell me about it and your drink is half off.
Once they're written, he goes into the kitchen to grab some bread and cheese before sitting behind the counter and wondering if this is all going to work.
(OOC: At 2 am EST, I'm off to bed. This is open for new tags until the next Happy Hour goes up with slows for all current threads.)

"1781", he answers, "but of course both of those were some time ago. And for yourself?"
no subject
It probably wasn't, most of the English people he's met here are smart and doing well for themselves. They're also nice but he knows he's not like them.

"Coffee, please." He smiles wryly. "It wasn't, and I would like to say that was on merit alone, but sadly it was probably more to do with my father."

"Just a little. My father was a nobleman. It wouldn't have done for his son to go to any but the best schools."
no subject
"Did you like the schools?"
no subject
"Reasonably well." He hated boarding school. "Particularly Oxford."

He pours out a mug and hands it over to Jason.

"Hey, William," he says, eyeing the specials. "I'll have a beer, whatever--" he's in Milliways. He reconsiders this. "You have any lagers?"
[ooc: holding tag, if it's ok? I'm dropping for a nap.]
no subject
"Yeah, I think so. Let me find one,"
There are a lot of beers in back here but he finally finds one that says lager and pours out a class for Clint.
no subject
Did normal people go to colleges back in William's day? Clint's not really sure. He suspects he may've learned this if he ever went to college, himself.
no subject
College isn't something he can think about for himself.

This is him doing what he promised their father he would do.

He relaxes and leans against the counter with a smile.
