This has been a windy and rainy one, which Demeter doesn't like. She keeps staying in one place longer than she means to but her hosts don't want her walking out on her own.

When she enters Milliways, her shawl is up over her head and has a net of raindrops on it and there's mud on her feet. She heads towards the counter to order some wine and bread before moving to the fire where she curls up.

This family worries her, they immigrated from Greece but their life hasn't been much better due to the troubles in Europe. Though she can help the land and help in other ways, its not making as much of a difference as she wants it to.

Ichabod has brought some books downstairs, mostly lost works by his favourite Greek writers.

He looks up when the lady sits down and inclines his head in polite greeting.

Demeter nods to him, her shawl is around her shoulders now showing part of her dress the gold of wheat in winter. The Greek makes her smile and she tilts her head to try and read the titles.

Noticing that, he nudges them around to a better angle.

She won't have seen these titles in a long, long time. The Milliways library is good like that.

When she spots one of the titles, Quarrel of Odysseus and Achilles by Homer, she laughs,

"Oh, that's a treat. Achilles was an ass, Odysseus was a treat. I miss him, his home lived in his bones."

"It must have", he agrees, "else he would never have found his way back. The opportunity to read these books is a treat for me, I must say."

"No, that was just because he was stubborn and more clever than Hera. The call of his land is why I liked him."

"It can be very powerful", he agrees quietly, "though of course other things can be more powerful still."

[wheatencrown]

"Oh yes, never underestimate anyone because people are rarely what they seem. Now who are you, dear? You seem to have changed homes and your new land suits you."

He tilts his head at her.

"You see much. My name is Ichabod Crane."

Orpheus doesn't feel the passage of time the way most mortals do, but even so he feels like it's been a good, long while since he's seen Demeter, and the sight of her, even bowed with worry, makes him smile.

He leans his guitar against the side of a chair near hers and takes a seat.

"My lady," he says by way of greeting.

"Oh hello, Orpheus," Its been a while since she's seen him so she looks up with a smile.

[golden_lyre]

"Hello," he says, catching the attention of a waitrat to order himself some wine as well.

"It's been far too long since we've spoken, I think."

"It has. How are you doing?" He looks happy which is nice to see.

He looks happy, and he is happy. Still a little uncertain, but happy.

"I'm doing well. How are you?"

"Its a hard Winter but I'm not too bad."

"I'm glad, my lady," he says with a smile. "Is there any way I can help?"

"I'm not sure, there's little enough it feels like I can do as it is."

Carlotta comes in from out back, having finally calmed down the runaway horse and tied him to the fence for a rest.

She comes up behind Demeter to give her a hug from behind.

"Hallo."

She leans into the hug, "Hello Carlotta."

[fiery_ring]

"Hallo, are you all right?" Carlotta asks.

[wheatencrown]

"Just tired. How are you?"

[fiery_ring]

"We settled in for the winter, I'm keeping Will busy." Carlotta says, sitting down next to her. "He built us a log cabin last winter and has been expanding it in the autumn, which is just as well because we had to cram a bunch of circus folk inside when we had an early snow."

"Wonderful, its good to have a place of your own to return to."

[fiery_ring]

"It is, especially when we built it. Molly has her own bedroom now, and we have a spare room in progress."

Carlotta shrugs. "Certainly beats us living in Will's childhood bedroom when the snow is too cold for the caravan. I love being on the road, but sometimes you need a bit of space."

"Yes, you do. Let me know if you need any help or anything such as help in the garden or babysitting."
