Keeping half an eye on his young son, Guppy is sitting in his usual spot. He's got a bunch of toilet rolls* and is currently turning them into crackers.

Right now he's trying to think of the corniest jokes he can muster.

He also has his sign up, just in case anyone is needing a bit of pre-holidays TLC.

[*At least, the ones left after his daughter used them to make a slide for a toy hedgehog.]

Perfect timing! Jay comes up from the garage with a greasy rag wrapped around his arm. "Hey doc. You the sort who deals with bleeding things? I was just going to ask Bar for a plaster but I'm thinking I should get it looked to." He has a pretty deep cut across the meat of his forearm.

"Yeah, I would agree." Guppy says, getting up. "Come on through, let's get that cleaned. What did you do it on?"

Jay follows wherever Guppy leads, holding his arm carefully. "My own stupidity. Didn't check the flywire was properly screwed in before I tested it. Caught me across the arm."

"Was the flywire clean?" Guppy asks.

"Clean...ish." Which is to say no. "Might have had a bit of engine grease on it." The rag he was holding to it had more than a bit.

"I'm Guppy by the way. What's your name?" Guppy asks, washing his hands and putting on some gloves.

"Jay." He nods in greeting and unwinds the rag. "You been around here long?"

"About... nine years." Guppy says, inspecting the wound. "Do you have any underlying medical problems, allergies?"

"Wow, I've only been here a couple of weeks." He smiles and shakes his head. "Unless you count a violent aversion to clowns, I'm all good." His arm is pretty impressively scarred already so one more doesn't bother him. Mostly knife or blade scars but the odd strange burn.

"Fortunately I don't think we have any of those." Guppy says.

He nods. "You need this stitching, alternately I can use the skin fuser on it and it'll speed up the healing."

"Oh good." Jay is genuinely relieved.

He nods and shrugs. "Whatever you think best. I don't think I've ever had a skin fuser used on me before."

"It's a bit uncomfortable but not painful, it basically forms a layer of top skin while the bottom heals."

"Interesting." Jay hums. "Never heard of that before. Future tech? I'm from 2008." Pain doesn't bother him. A little cut's nothing.

"Yeah, way ahead of our time." Guppy says. "I use it here unless people want the scar."

"Ahead of your time too?" He cocks his head, studying Guppy for clues of his time period.

He laughs warmly. "Yeah, I've got plenty of those. I really don't need to add to my collection."

"Yeah, I'm 2013." Guppy says, getting out something that looks a bit like a glue gun.

"Okay, hold still for me, this will take a few minutes."

Jay studies the gun as Guppy works, interested by any new tech. "can I ask where you got it?"

"One of my colleagues fetched a load of kit from across time and space." Guppy says. "So it was here when the infirmary started."

"Make sense." He ignores the slight tingle as it heals, too busy looking. "Do you think I could get a look at instruction manual?"

"You could try asking the bar." Guppy says. "We have operating instructions here but not a technical guide per se."

"Sorry, I'm a techie. It's in my nature to be curious."

"It's okay, we had a few... dubious enquiries lately about whether stuff could be used for other purposes." Guppy says, lifting the device.

"All done. Go gentle on it for the next week, it's still healing underneath."

"Yeah, people are nasty like that sometimes. If it helps any, I can promise I would only use it for avoiding scarring."

"Thanks very much." He flexes his arm carefully. "Feels better already."

"Excellent - are you injured anywhere else?"

"Nar, all good. Thanks for that. Anything I can do in return?"

"Nope, this is for free."

Jay raises an eyebrow a little sceptically. Even in this place, things have a cost. "Let me know if you have anything needs fixing or anything like that. Least I can make myself useful."

"If we're doing any renovation I'll let you know."

"No worries." He gestures with his bandaged arm. "Thanks for that."
