After his "conversation" with the Dark Dragon and Mia's subsequent tongue-lashing, Autor found himself chastened and in need of a bracing cup of tea. He picks up a face mask for protection from the flu and soldiers out to see if his worries about Oswin and Rae being infected are well-founded.

"Your enthusiasm at hearing about a possibly spiteful being with phenomenal cosmic power possessing my friend is less than reassuring," Autor says, kicking himself for bringing it up. "I should have guessed that would be your reaction, but I didn't."

"You're the one who brought it up, so you must have also thought it to be interesting," he points out.

"Touché," Autor says, flashing a guilty smile. "And it is interesting--very much so. I confess that I am curious as to how a meeting between the two of you would go, now."

"Well, we can always satisfy that bit of curiosity." He sounds perfectly reasonable, as if it's the most reasonable thing in the world.

There's a reason why the Fool changes into a cat, isn't there?

"We could," Autor says, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose again. "Just be careful what you say, will you? As far as I know, you'd be the first person to meet him who didn't already know Lucas beforehand."

"Very well, I can be careful." Though of what, he's not sure exactly.

Still, it doesn't seem like a bad thing to reassure Autor.

"Ha, sorry," Autor says, laying a hand on his cheek. "The only reason I'm coming down on you is because I just received a lecture for challenging a being of phenomenal cosmic power with questions."

So, you know, his normal routine around Milliways.

"That's a bad thing?"

The Fool, we're talking to, yes? Though his idea of questions might be different than someone else's.

"Yes?" Autor says, rubbing the back of his neck. "Um. I didn't exactly know his intent before charging in there and demanding things."

"Which was?"

Intent is often irrelevant to the Fool. But... that's because well... he's rather foolish.

"How Lucas was doing," Autor murmurs. "And what the Dragon wants with him. Which it turns out I was wrong on--it's not what the Dragon wants which is important, but what Lucas wants."

He frowns, and picks up his teacup. "He destroyed his whole world, and I suspect he doesn't even know it yet."

Ooh exciting! The Fool's eyes light up at this.

"So. Your friend is comatose and the dragon is able to speak?"

And it's that reaction which makes Autor consider--not for the first time--that his life would be much improved if he ever learned to keep his mouth shut.

"Yes, hence why I was able to challenge and question him," he says, "and hence the lecture." He makes a motion around his head. "He speaks in one's mind... the effect is wholly unsettling, though I suspect you'd be used to it in no time flat. If you had the chance to meet him, what would you say?"

Yes, but then the Fool's life would be so less entertaining.

"I don't know. It depends what he said to me. I cannot see the future, after all. Though I don't think I'd like him to speak in my head though," he says. "I suppose there's only one way to find out!"

"Isn't there a saying along the lines of 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread'?" Autor grouses good-naturedly. "I think this is one of those situations. Really, though, as interesting as the Dark Dragon is, Lucas does need to rest. I was planning to leave him be for a few days."

"Quite possibly! Though, the question is, do I particularly care?"

However he does lean back. "Now then, I can wait. Something like this is interesting enough to hold my attention long enough to make it worth waiting for."

Oh, Autor thinks. I'm an idiot.

"Let's hope he thinks the same of you," the boy says, resisting the urge to lay a hand on his cheek. "Do please remember that he's possessing a friend of mine, and neither will appreciate being treated like a sideshow attraction."

His expression is a rather open, you wouldn't do that, would you?
