When Shephard and Bumi went to Svalbard*, they came right back to Rowlesburg after the mission. They weren't there for long, though- just long enough to drop off what they'd picked up at the frozen end of the world, then pick up Corporal Maripyaipok and head down to Brazil to visit his people for a few days. Shephard figured after everything that happened in the Arctic dark, a little time in Brazil was probably called for, and anyway there were seed stocks in the Doomsday Vault that were never meant for anywhere but equatorial climates. Best to get them to the people who could actually make use of them. The Mawé were glad to see Mari again, and Shephard, and very glad to see the seeds; they sent him home with a number of gifts in exchange.
So if you're wondering why Shephard's taken up one of the better-sized tables with a stack of lumber pieces as long as he is tall, blame it on the Sateré-Mawé.
... it makes more sense when Shephard explains it. Feel free to ask him what's going on.
*a trip which is still in progress and which will be linked upon completion; hooray, Millitime
