YT feels a little weird about this, but she's gotta be honest with herself - she needs help. So she pins the note on the notice board and walks away before she has a chance for second thoughts.

Wanted: a personal shopper or fashion consultant who can provide advice on ladies' professional attire appropriate for early twenty-first century Earth.

It's kind of an awkward sentence, but YT feels that given the clientele here, she really needs to get specific.

Look for the blonde woman in the blue-and-orange coverall. If you can't find me leave me a T-Minus message at rapidRadish, or leave a note for me with the Bar.

She gets a Coke (an old-fashioned, glass-bottle one), sits herself down on a table where she will be easily visible to most of the bar, and cracks open a Macy's catalog.

"Oh! Hi Enzo," YT says, nonchalantly hiding her catalog under the table. Well, she hopes it's nonchalantly.

Of course, if he sees her message on the message board, she's hosed anyway.

Hiding anything under the table is not particularly nonchalant by definition.

"Whaaaat are you doing?"

"Shopping." YT can't quite maintain eye contact. "Kinda."

Enzo folds his arms, gazes, and waits.

(Minus, on the other hand, zips beneath the table to see if rapidRadish has a toy.)

YT scowls. "Fuck it. I'm looking for, like, professional clothes, okay? I've only got one interview suit."

Enzo blinks, nonplussed. Not exactly as shameful as she made out, but... "Kinda hard to picture."

No mocking? That's a pleasant surprise. "Kinda hard for me too. And that's part of the..." YT startles and scoots her chair back as something bumps into her leg. "Oh. It's just a...what is that?"

"That's my T-Minus software. Minus, get out of there."

"Wait, wait, hold on!" YT fishes in one of her many pockets for her iPhone. "I wanna see what happens when I send you a message."

"Go for it. Minus, out." Minus pings and emerges.

YT opens up her Trollian app and types a brief message to outsideInterface

Minus bleeps eagerly and manifests a text window and holographic keyboard.

Enzo grins and types in:

"What happens if you send him away and you get a message?" YT asks. "Does he just give it to you next time you bring him back? Or does he just poof up and go "ping"?

"No, he can't teleport. He'd give it to me next time he saw me. And he'd probably try to find me." Which is more than a forgotten phone can do. "But I'm hoping he can learn to give me a message long-distance if he needs to, like a vidwindow."

"So you're still training him?" Pause. "Is he housebroken?"

"Yeah, thank code." Housetraining a flying nautilus was... weird.

[feminine_menace]

"Good. I don't know if I could handle a messaging program that widdles on the floor. That would be super-weird, even for here."

[a1enzo]

Enzo nods vehemently. "But for teaching him vidwindows and stuff, he's a new thing. I'm not sure how to go about it."

[feminine_menace]

"Well...communication is what he's programmed to do, right? So maybe you don't really have to train him that much to do that stuff. The really big issue might be training him so he knows when not to do it."

[a1enzo]

"I guess that's true. Not that he's ever sent messages on his own yet."

Still, if he learns to...

"Actually, I'm more worried about what might happen if someone who's not you gets him to send T-Minus messages using your handle. I mean, he might do that for a treat or something. But yeah, him sending spoof messages on his own might be pretty bad too."

"Good point. But I'm pretty sure that's something I can teach him not to do. And he always knows if someone's on the network or not, and what their handle is if they are, so he might know not to already. But I'll make sure."

[feminine_menace]

"Sounds like he's got some kind of built-in security then. That's good. Hiro and Juanita always say you gotta bake security in, not sprinkle it on after."

Enzo nods in total agreement. "No reason not to make sure, though. Redundant security is good."

"Not always, but that's a whole other can of worms and Hiro or Juanita could explain it better," YT says. She thinks for a moment. "Hey, I never thought about it before, but if Minus is a program and a pet at the same time...what's Frisket? Like, functionality-wise, I mean."

"A watchdog program. Mostly he protects kids."

[feminine_menace]

"Shoulda figured," YT says.

"So, um, the clothes thing. I always knew I was going to start a job with Cosa Nostra at some point. I can't wear my usual stuff for that."

[a1enzo]

"What're you gonna do there?"

[feminine_menace]

"They have an intelligence division," YT says. "I've worked for them before as a...contractor, kind of. So that's what I'll be doing."

YT will still get to wear street clothes sometimes, but she will be spending a lot of time in an office.

"Like spyware?"

[feminine_menace]

"Yeah, some of it. I don't think I'll be doing a lot of the electronic surveillance stuff. Probably a lot of low-tech surveillance and maybe working with contacts."

"Get something with shades, then."

[feminine_menace]

YT smirks. "Dude. It's not like the movies. There's gonna be a lot of office stuff and I have to dress for that."

Aw. Spoil his fun, why don't you.

"You could get something that could look good with or without shades," he suggests. "Plenty of those movie outfits look kind of officey too."

[feminine_menace]

"Spew. You're basically saying I should take my fashion cues from the Feds. Besides, in Southern California sunglasses aren't necessarily a fashion statement. I mean, they can be, but not in my price range."

"Oh, I see your point. It's one of those places that's sunnier than others, yeah?"

[feminine_menace]

"Yep. I mean, I usually just use Knight Visions, which adjust to the ambient light. But I don't think you can wear those to the office. Might get to keep using them on recon, though."
