Peter walks over to the bar and pays his tab (which probably isn't too high, as he paid it shortly after New Year's). Everything which he could shrink and stuff into various pockets and his crystal case has been, for lack of a better word, packed. Val's letter, which he's promised not to read till he leaves Milliways, is tucked in one of his coat's inside pockets.

On the bulletin board, he leaves a note.

To the Patrons and Staff of Milliways:

The path to my world has been completed.

I have to return.

I will miss this bar, and all of you. (There are many of you I wished to say goodbye to personally, but I did not see you tonight. I'm sorry.)

I do not know how long I will be gone.

God willing, I'll come home soon.

Taking a deep breath, Peter walks up to the front door, opens it and steps onto the path leading back to his world.

The door closes behind him with a barely audible click.
