Sometimes you say stuff that doesn't go as you meant. After coming outside, Fry debates his options.

Dad had said that although he couldn't stop the bar door appearing for him, he wasn't to go into the forest, near the lake, or anywhere he couldn't see the back door. He hovers at the edge of the forest, but rules are rules, so he goes back towards the garden.

He wipes his face on his sleeve, then crouches at the edge of one of the flower beds, watching two snails race down the path.

One of the snails' morphological brethren hovers over and pings at him.

"Hey, Fry," says Enzo, following.

"Hello Enzo." Fry says, glancing at the snail floating nearby.

His nose is still a bit runny, and he wipes it on his sleeve.

"You okay?"

Fry shrugs. And then starts to sniffle a bit.

"What happened?"

"I made someone cross." Fry says, "I didn't mean to."

"Something you did, or something you said?"

"I asked them if they washed their hands and it made them cross. People ask me that all the time." Fry says.

"After the bathroom, you mean? Was it someone older than you?"

"Yes, it was a big boy." Fry nods.

Enzo nods thoughtfully and considers how to format this.

"Grown-ups ask you 'cause kids your age don't always remember. 'Cause you're still learning, or at least you're young enough that you might still be learning, and they want to make sure. But big kids and grown-ups know to wash their hands by now. Or they should, anyway. So sometimes if people ask them, they get upset 'cause they think it's like saying they don't know what they're doing."

Fry nods, processing this.

"Is it like you can't tell grown ups to do as they're told?"

"Same sort of thing, yeah."

Fry nods.

"Why do people always yell at me?"

Sigh.

"Because you don't act how they expect a kid your age to act, and they don't know how to handle it. It's not your fault."

Fry sighs.

Then Enzo gets something rare from him - a quick hug.

Enzo's eyes widen a bit in surprise, then he smiles. "Thanks."

"Thanks." Fry says back, breaking off and staring at Minus bobbing up and down.

"You can pet his shell if you want."

Fry reaches out and gently pets his shell.

"Which way?" he asks, to check. "Clockwise?"

"Either way is fine. As far as I know, he just likes the fact that someone's petting him."

"Does he feel stuff?"

"With his tentacles. His shell… I think it's like if I touched your fingernail. Or if you were wearing a helmet and I touched that."

"I had to wear a helmet when Daddy tried to show me how to ride a bike."

"Okay, so you know how it feels? You can tell something's touching the helmet, but you don't feel it the same way."

Fry nods.

"Has it got a name? That feeling?"

"I don't think so. Feeling indirectly? Feeling through something?"

"Throughling?" Fry suggests.

Enzo grins. "Sounds good to me, but don't expect anyone else to know what it means."

Fry nods and carries on gently petting the floaty snail.

"Lots of people don't know what I mean." he says. "So it's okay."

"As long as you're happy with it, then."

Minus waves his tentacles contentedly and chimes softly.

Naruto followed a few minutes later only to find the boy he had been talking to crying.

Ahh, crap. He didn't like making people feel bad, and he knew how bad others could make you feel. He had stopped at bar for snacks, so he was well stocked with good things to eat.

"Sorry," he said offering the boy a package wrapped in a bamboo leaf.

Fry looks up at the bigger boy, and takes the package, though he's not sure what it is.

"Thanks." he says.

"I didn't mean to make you cross." he says, wiping his nose on his sleeve.

Naruto shrugged, "I shouldn't have gotten annoyed. I'm just having a bad day."

The diarrhea wasn't a good feeling, that and his attempts to woo Sakura were going badly.

The package had onigiri in it, although, good, he wasn't feel very hungry at the moment.

Fry opens it and looks at it. He recognises it as an onigiri because Mum likes sushi, and sometimes takes them out so he can watch the little plates go around on the belt.

He sniffs it. Mmm, salmon.

"I can eat it because I know you washed your hands." he says, tucking in.

"The bar made it," he said, "She makes good food you know."

"I know." Fry says. "I came here since just after I was born."

He looks up at Naruto. "How old are you?"

"I am 12 years old," said Naruto proudly, " how old are you?"

"I'm five." Fry says, looking impressed that a twelve year old came back to talk to him.

He has been rejected, and understood how much it sucked.

Fry finishes the onigiri.
