Tonight, Elrond has brought his harp with him.
He eats dinner first, enjoying steamed vegetables and roasted potatoes, and a glass of wine.
Later, he settles at the side of the fireplace and plays, softly enough for it to not bother those further away.
The songs are beautiful. Some are happy in a quiet sort of way, others are melancholic.
He plays well and his voice is sure and full toned.
Catch him at dinner or at the fireplace.

"...I think that would drive most - humans, I think that's what you call Men - mad."

It is not worse, nor better. It simply is.

Gavroche nods. "And that's what we get, barring some kind of intervention."

"Sometimes the intervention is part of what was meant to happen", he agrees. "Although I think sometimes a path that's already happened can be changed, with the help of Milliways."

"Perhaps this is part of this place's purpose then. To offer chances to grow and learn and walk another way."

"Or save lives", he says quietly. "It's given me the chance to save my sister."

He nods seriously. "She died when I was ten, from lack of time to make a plan. Her coming here from my past, before it happened, changes all that."

" That is well," he says with emphasis.

Gavroche smiles, grateful for the approval. "And then I can make sure she has a good life, too. As best I can."

"If she lives, she'll be able to go wherever she wants. Into my new world with me, or stay here, or anywhere."

Very much aware that others may have differing opinions.

"I hope she will. At least at first, while she gets on her feet. After that, if there's another world she prefers, of course she'll have my blessing."

"It's my turn to look after her now", he says with a grin. "Whether she likes it or not."

"I'm still her baby brother. She's never going to be wholly pleased with the idea."

"A lot of girls are quite able to look after themselves, if they haven't just been kept locked away and sheltered. But it's still a brother's job, older or younger."

Gavroche nods. "I'm not sure anything anyone could have done would prepare her for this. Especially since you hoped she'd choose the other way."
