David didn't go home last night.
This should surprise nobody.
So finding him half-awake in one of the chairs by the fireplace, staring at the flames, should be nothing unusual.
Unless you happen to notice the bloodtears and haven't spoken to him in days.

Did you sleep? might come to Liam's ears, or into his head.
But David doesn't speak.
no subject
"No. Did you?"
no subject
He closes his eyes, and moves slowly beside Liam.
I don't want to dream in case he's not there.

*he sets the mug down and it vanishes*
I'm sorry. I'd forgotten.

"Don't worry about it. I think I fed enough yesterday for a week."

"Hello, Yamino," he whispers, and gently picks the snake up into his arms. "Are you well?"

I am as well as can be expected. I got to see Sister last night, though she is not *my* sister, precisely...but it was good. Pleasant. The sadness of the passing of the gentleman whose name was posted up has weighed heavily on my spirit, however.
He nuzzles again before giving a slight squeeze, a hug.
Just as one is returned to me, one is taken from so many. And while I did not know him, I know the pain of loss. And by all accounts, he was a wonderful man. I am...greatly pained that did not get the chance to meet him, to know him.

Ember sits herself on the arm of the chair.
"I'm sorry about Charlie."
no subject
He looks up at her, and he half-smiles, half-frowns.
"As am I."
And there are strong arms about her.
"I missed you, Ember."
no subject
She pets his hair.
"I missed you too, David. You're a vampire again, I see."

"Richard told me. I'm sorry."
no subject
"So am I."
He sighs, and looks up at him now.
"We're going to get him back."
no subject
"...How?"
no subject
"We go into Purgatory."

There is Asar-Suti beside him all of a sudden, warmth and tenderness and understanding in his voice.
Gil told me Bartleby and you were going to get him back... he thinks at him, sitting down on the arm of the chair and gathering David into his arms.
no subject
We're going to go into Purgatory itself - where souls go before they're judged... We're going to bring him back, make it better...
He wraps arms around Asar-Suti and sighs.
no subject
You are going there, not calling him, then - you know where he is?
Asar-Suti had felt Lochiel call on him through the whole of the multiverse, which is what brought him to the bar in the first place - and David knows that, in some way, as he knows everything, in some way, since last night.
When will you leave - is there yet a bit of time for us to spend here, in front of the fire, with you in my arms?
no subject
We leave tonight, I think. And we know where he SHOULD be because of his religion. Or, the religion he used to follow.
He sighs, and leans into Asar-Suti's touch, eyes screwed up slightly, his head back, eyes on the ceiling.
What powers did you grant me last night? I know I feel different.
