Bonnie comes in, carrying a large crate of jigsaws. She puts the box down on the table, gets a bottle of 'Unibroue TERRIBLE', and settles down to do some marking.

The first few jigsaws are quite good, and she grades well. The fourth one she picks out is an exceptional bit of woodcraft, until she peers more closely at the pattern.

She extricates the outermost pieces and peers at it. No, it's unmistakable, some delinquent has cut out the shape of a rude hand gesture.

She debates for a moment, then writes on her piece of paper.

'Good workmanship. A, providing you don't give it to a small child.'

Clementine kind of admires the handiwork of Bonnie's students. That last one looks like something she'd've done back when she was in high school, only it would have involved more scorched-in pot leaves.

"Well, it looks like somebody was in a bad mood."

"New student." Bonnie says. "Expelled from his last school, so far the most I've heard out of him was a grunt."

She turns the jigsaw over and adds.

"May be the first A he's ever got. He certainly knows how to run a jigsaw."

Clementine gives it another appreciative nod. "Good, he found his calling. He's got a future making erotic jigsaw puzzles ahead of him - I know some people, I can give him some names."

"If he can make a clean one, I'll be replacin' the display model." Bonnie says, running a finger along the line. "Kid needs some encouragement, I'll be tellin' him tomorrow he has a future as a carpenter. Might be the first time he ever heard he could do anything."

She looks up and smiles. "I'm Bonnie. Don't think we met."

"There you go - at least he can carve some dirty limericks into an i-beam. And we haven't," she declares, offering a hand. "Name's Clemmy."

Bonnie gives it a hearty handshake.

"Nice ter meet you Clemmy. Where are you from?"

Clem likes a good, firm handshake - her own shake back's a bit aggressive in return. "Reno," she says, releasing it. "Born and Bred. You?"

"California, all over, finally settling in LA." Bonnie says. "We used to tour on our bikes, Bill and I, before we settled."

"I've been to LA," she says fondly. "Good times. A lot of rashes, but good times. Bill? Your guy?"

"My husband." Bonnie smiles, fondly, nodding. "My pa used to work on the railroad, so we travelled a lot."

Clem gives her a thoughtful nod. "I bet you saw all sorts of things back then. I didn't do my travelling until I was older."
