Eric's at the Bar, looking through a stack of newspapers from Shreveport and the surrounding counties.
Taking advantage of Milliways to get up to speed on the murder cases in Bon Temps.
Dead fangbangers showing up is something he cannot afford to disregard, even if the coupius amounts of blood at the crime scenes do suggest, that whomever did it wasn't a vampire.

He is reading through one of the articles, snorting lightly at the more colorful theories being expounded.
As if.

"You look very intent this evening, Mr Northman." David observes as he passes.

"Just catching up on the news," Eric says, looking up.
"Trouble is brewing and I want to make sure that I am on top of it."

"May I ask what's happened?" David asks softly, very much a policeman in his interest.

[onceaviking]

"Someone's been killing fangbangers," Eric replies.

[inspector_blueeyes]

"Am I to assume a fangbanger," The word sounds very strange in his accent, "are humans who prefer the company of your people? And someone is murdering them for it?"

[onceaviking]

"A fangbanger is a human who enjoys sex with vampires and/or being bitten. Mostly it's both," Eric replies. "And it does look like that might be the case."

David considers for a moment, aware of his own indiscretions on that front. "And it is not being done by one of your own people?"

[onceaviking]

"I would find that difficult to believe, considering that they were both found in a pool if blood," Eric says, and then looks up at David.

"We do not leave pools of blood behind." Smiling.

[inspector_blueeyes]

David nods consideringly, accepting this as a piece of evidence that makes up part of the puzzle rather than an attempt by Eric to raise a reaction from him. "Then the assalient is most likely hums. And one with a grudge against those who prefer the company of vampires. Are there any organisations that promote such hatred amongst their followers?"

Dr. Lecter has been sitting near the fireplace, drinking tea and reading something on his iPad for quite a while.

Now, he gets up and walks towards the bar.

"Hello, Eric," he says, politely, as he approaches.

Eric looks up. A little surprised at being approached, but hiding it well.

"Yes?"

Obviously, the man wants something. Why else approach him.
Perhaps he is in for a scolding. He schools his features, looking neutrally blank.

The man is simply returning his teacup to the bar; he puts the little tray it's on onto the bar counter, and it vanishes.

"No hard feeling about last time," the doctor says to him, "but I was making risotto. Precise timing is of the essence for that dish, or it turns either soggy or sticks indelibly to the bottom of the saucepan."

"Oh," Eric says. Noncommittally.

The paper is opened on an article about a murder. The crime scene photo is incredibly bloody and the text is very light on actual facts.

Dr. Lecter cranes his neck.

"Oh dear," he remarks, looking at the newspaper, "seems somebody came to a very sticky end. Your home town has a serial killer on the loose?"

"It's in one of the smaller towns close by," Eric replies. "Someone appears to bear a grudge against fangbangers."

[cook_the_rude]

"Can you translate that crucial bit of jargon?" Dr. Lecter asks.

[onceaviking]

"A fangbanger? A vampire groupie. Someone who finds vampires attractive and enjoyed being bitten. Or having sex with vampires. Or both."

Eric taps the newspaper article. "Both victims have been coming to my club. And people have been asking questions."

Moist is feeling comfortable after his lovely night at the Kit Kat Klub and at the Bar with an Ankh-Morpork Times and a whiskey.

Eric's a handsome though pale looking man and he smiles, he's in a button down shirt with the collar open, "Is the news wrong?"

Eric looks up.

" it could be better, it could be worse," he says.

The observant will notice that there is no visible pulse beneath his jawline and that he doesn't seem to breathe.

When he looks up, Moist notices the lack of pulse and stills before taking a drink. The vampires here always disconcert him,

"Oh?"

Eric smiles.

His teeth look normal, white and even.
"It's not one of mine, so I don't have to take action. That's always good to know."

"One of yours?"

As he gets a refill of his drink, he glances and looks more closely at the paper, which confirms vampires.

[onceaviking]

"I belong to a minority, you might say. We're vilified enough as it is," Eric replies.

[morethanprops]

"Ah, your kind, vampires partially rule a country in my world," Moist doesn't feel that much pity.

[onceaviking]

"They do? Interesting. Where I am from, we have been in hiding up until now. We became recognized as citizens quite recently."

He's not surprised that he got pegged as a vampire. Those who knows vamps tend to be able to spirit. Unless the vamp in question really works for it.
