[oom: Guppy does what he always does when he's unsure, and bounces the Hannibal-Javert problem off Fran. They come to the conclusion that they are, on reflection, royally pissed.]

The report Guppy was doing still isn't finished. More precisely, after a week of investigating, he's got a bright red sharpie and scrawled across the front of it:

We need a better referral system.

After another ten minutes of staring at it, he crosses out the word 'better'.

Charles is feeling uncomfortable with what he keeps learning about what's been happening with Javert.

When he sees Guppy, he heads over and then frowns, its rare for Guppy to feel that angry, "Hello."

"Hey Charles."

Even annoyed, it's about 70% worry.

"Any news?"

"No, though I've met the priest who was helping Javert and seen the church foundation. I'm sorry to say that I don't like Father Harman very much, he's very like Javert and I can see him only confirming many of his ideas. What's wrong?"

He sits down and orders them a pot of tea.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Apparently just before he left, Dr Lecter told Javert that he's like Fry." Guppy says. "And even if I agreed with the diagnosis, which I don't, I don't like that he involved Fry. I've been trying to keep Fry away from Javert."

"Like Fry, how?"

Its an odd comparison and while, they both appreciate rules and can be awkward, its strange.

[guppy_sandhu]

"On the autistic spectrum." Guppy says.

"Do you pick up any similarities between Javert and Fry, with your powers?"

[balancingminds]

"No, I don't. They do share some superficial similarities, craving rules and being socially awkward but no more than that. Javert chooses to impose his rules on the world, while Fry needs his rules to make sense of the world."

[guppy_sandhu]

"I think Javert knows he upsets people, and doesn't care, because he believes he's right. Fry assumes he's right and doesn't think he might upset someone."

Guppy sighs.

"In any case, I don't feel it was any business of Hannibal bringing Fry into that situation, for either party."

"I agree and telling him that somehow his behavior is due to another factor complicates matters. No, it wasn't, there are other ways to bring up the idea,"

Yet it doesn't surprise Charles too much as Hannibal and Javert share a world view, its just that Hannibal is more aware of people's expectations.

Amanda walks down the stairs and see's Guppy and is almost distraught when she notices his mood. Promptly she walks over to bar and orders two electric blue smoothies. Once they arrive she takes them and sets one in front of Guppy before she takes her seat.

"Hey Amanda. Thanks." Guppy accepts the smoothie.

Giving him a warm smile.

"Do you ever take a break?" briefly frowning at the report.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Sure I do." Guppy says. "I can break a kit-kat in half and eat it while I write."

That earns him a laugh and this time the smile stays.

"Well then what is bothering you?"

And one of these days she will steal him away to her world for a vacation.

"Oh, one of my colleagues here was... indiscreet about Fry's condition when talking to another patron, who he thought had similar problems." Guppy says. "Fran and I weren't too happy about it."

Amanda isn't particularly happy either as evident by the uncharacteristic frown. "That is inappropriate."

"How is Fry?...How old is he now?" some warmth returning as she talks about Fry. While Amanda might not be big on kids Fry has a special place in her heart.

"He's five and a half." Guppy says. "He has his challenges still, but he's doing well at school, and he has a couple of friends."

"Hey, Guppy."

Ping, says Minus, investigating the Sharpie.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Hey Enzo." Guppy looks up.

He isn't sure whether to let Minus have the sharpie or not.

[a1enzo]

"He likes tug-of-war," Enzo advises.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Ah, well that could get messy very quickly." Guppy says, offering Minus his tie instead.

Ooooh. Little tentacles wind into the fabric.

"What's a referral system?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"A system by which patients get care from one professional to another." Guppy says. "For example, if I wanted to refer to a stomach doctor."

[a1enzo]

"Do we need one here?" Despite sometimes seeming oddly infinite, Milliways, and the infirmary in particular, isn't actually all that big. It's no hospital, certainly.

[guppy_sandhu]

"No, it was just an example." Guppy says. "I'm actually talking about referring between us and psychiatry."
