(Not-Actually-OOM: A few days ago, Gavroche and Sunshine come to the conclusion that it's better to show someone you're still their friend than abandon them when things get complicated. The trick is finding the right balance.)

When Sunshine comes in from the kitchen, today, she has a plate of food - a full meal, really - in addition to her tray of baked goods. The plate holds a sizable slice of broccoli-cheese quiche, a spinach and mixed greens salad with raspberries, feta cheese, candied pecans and a homemade vinaigrette dressing, and some toasted quinoa with carrots, sweet peppers, corn and caramelized onions. Though vegetarian, everything in it is a good source of iron and protein. On a smaller plate, for dessert, she includes one of her humongous cinnamon rolls.

She leaves the plate and cinnamon roll with with the bar, with instructions that they are for Jason Todd.

A peace offering, and a sign she doesn't want their friendship to be over, though she knows neither of them is probably ready to confront this yet. They'll work through it, though, eventually. That's what friends do.

Once the plate has been delivered to the Bar, Rae starts arranging her tray of baked goods for sale, and puts up a sign:

Rae snorts a faint laugh, moving to put a piece of the cake onto a small plate for him.

"Of course you may," she says, offering him the plate, the cake, a fork and napkin.

"I did not mean to be funny," Teja says, accepting the plate. "Thank you! Why was I?"

"I had offered you a piece of the cake in the first place, so I figured whether you may have a piece or not to be a given," she grins.

So to speak.

"I had almost said no in the first place, so I thought I would ask again," Teja says.

"I try not to give my offers of food expiration dates," she smiles.

"Though I would still like your opinion on the cake."

"I shall eat some," Teja says, "and then try to come up with opinion, like a Roman. They had opinions on everything."

"Did they?" Rae grins. "They would have loved the globenet. Everyone talking about everything, all the time, ignoring the distance between them."

Teja starts eating.

"That is like the T-Minus of the trolls, or the internet in Pyrrha's world, or the one where I may go to in Italy," he says.

"I've heard it has different names in different worlds, yeah," Rae nods.

"...I have a T-Minus, here, actually. I just keep forgetting to log on." Sheepish.

"I suggested getting them to Pyrrha, but she says she prefers my hand-written notes," Teja says.

Pause.

"I am able to speak entire sentences without mentioning Pyrrha, or Egil, or both," he then says, with a rueful little smile. "But not when speaking of domestic things."

Sunshine smiles at his assertion. "I believe you."

"Anyway, I think it's sweet. There's some poem that says the ones in our hearts are the ones most often on our tongues as well. Or something like that. The people we think about and feel strongly about, we talk about."

"Of what the heart's full of, the mouth will flow over," Teja declaims. "That is what my people used to say."

"You've got the truth of it, there. And proof," Rae smiles. "How are Pyrrha and Egil doing, by the way?"

"They are doing well, and will ever make my heart glad," Teja says. "Have you ever met them?"

"Nope, not yet. I've only ever heard of them from you," she says.

"I am sure you would like each other -- Pyrrha enjoys cooking, and would surely like your baking," Teja says. "So would Egil, even though he would make a mess of it."

"Making messes will always be a child's prerogative," grins the baker. "And bakers and cooks, too."

The messes made by cooks and bakers are of a useful kind, though.

"Bakers and cooks clean up after themselves, though," Teja says. "Or have their paid helpers."
