Happy Hour
For the first time in a very long while, Gaeta is walking -- slowly, yes, but still walking -- without his crutches.
For the first time in a very long while, he's also sliding behind the bar to chalk up the specials board.
(Bar, it seems, took the lack of crutches to mean he's up for doing this sort of thing again. Gaeta can't complain; he has missed it.)
TONIGHT'S SPECIAL
Coffee
any kind
because it's the nectar
of the gods & anyone
who says otherwise is
a dirty liar
"Happy hour," he calls. "What can I get you?"
[ooc: off to bed! slowtime now in effect; post is open until I say it's not.]

He's loosening his collar as he sits down at the counter, "Coffee sounds wonderful. A mug and a glass of brandy, if you have it, the good stuff from Vorkosigan Surleau."
no subject
Oh. Hang on a minute.
" -- Vorkosigan Surleau?"

Perhaps it will help with all his worries that Simon is out of his depth with the Arquas.

He scans the wall of bottles behind the bar. Some kind soul thought to alphabetize them recently; unfortunately, they used an alphabet that doesn't match Gaeta's in the slightest.
Maybe it's better to take care of the coffee first. The percolator purrs like a cat when Gaeta touches it; blinking, he gives the top of it a brief pat. The purring intensifies.
"It's...good to see you again, too?" he offers.
Prrrrr.

Claudia grins, then eyes the specials board for a minute. "Now I have to decide how badly I want to stay up all night."
no subject
Gods know how he'll feel tomorrow, but for now, he's feeling pretty good!
"I could always make it decaf if you wanted."

He eyes the bag.
"...a new shipment of something they managed to grow in an underground cave somewhere. It's actually pretty good."
no subject
Never let it be said that there's no adventure in Claudia's heart.

"Nah, they don't count", he says cheerfully. "Hey, Felix, how's things?"
no subject
That's the whole point to his being behind the bar, after all.

"Coffee's the special, so I'll have coffee. Take your pick what kind - and I'm okay. Eponine came back."

If so, he won't judge. (Much.)
no subject
He's gotten a bit spooked by all the coffee options in this place.

One of the coffee bags lined up next to the percolator is the non-alcoholic equivalent of a jug with "XXX" on the side: burlap, stamped simply with COFFEE, and containing a thoroughly ordinary batch of beans. Praying that it won't, say, burst into song once it hits hot water, Gaeta selects it and busies himself preparing the drink.
"I've seen you around," he says, "but I don't think we've been formally introduced. Felix Gaeta."

"Felix," he says, pleased. "Wan an. How have you been?"
no subject
"Hey, Simon," he says, lifting a hand to wave hello. "Not too bad. How about you?"
no subject
There's an inexplicable smile along with that.
no subject
A gesture to the specials board.
"Want anything?"
