There's a lot of those new-fangles 'leggos' in here.

Bonnie hasn't even noticed her vidwindow yet. She's far too busy playing with the cute little plastic blocks, marvelling at how easily they join and separate.

In fact, if she just overlayers them like this... between these two sofas... these could be handy for demonstrating to her students the importance of vectors in creating a bridge.

Now if she can just find one of those ones with eight times two little blobs...

Hopefully, the resident fox cub won't steal one of those pieces. Or even swallow them.

The little creature is being watched very closely by a long-legged maned wolf who lounges near the furnace.

Oh how darling, a little fox!

Bonnie watches it, surprised to see it in here, it seems very tame.

Carefully, it picks up some lego bricks with its mouth and carries it over to the maned wolf.

The wolf gives an almost laughing little yelp, and shakes its maned head, showing its paws.

Nope, no can build, in this shape.

"Don't eat that, little feller, drop it?" Bonnie tries.

The little cub comes back to her and puts the bricks down by her feet.

It looks up at her with big hopeful puppy eyes.

Instinct tells Bonnie not to pet the fox.

But he looks so cute!

She offers a hand to sniff.

The cub sniffs her hand, then playfully licks it.

Then, it paws at the lego bricks again.

The maned wolf gets to its feet.

"Nice coyote..." Bonnie says, withdrawing her hand.

The fox cub nudges the bricks with its nose, and yelps impatiently. Egil already knows what Legos are for!

The maned wolf watches, patient.

Bonnie starts arranging the bricks so that the fox could jump over it, if he wants.

No -- that's not what the fox cub means. It pushes the bricks apart with its nose.

The maned wolf sits on its hind legs and mimes stacking something with its slender black front paws.

"You want me ter build a bookshelf?"

The larger animal comes over and softly nudges a Lego brick into place; then, it takes another very gently between its lips and tries to put it on top, which of course doesn't work.

Then, it mimes stacking things again, pointing at the bricks.

And the cub.

Who sits at attention and yips.

Bonnie tries stacking the blocks. Is that it?

Enthusiastically, the cub puts his paws on top, wags his tail, and yelps happily.

Apparently, that is right -- the little fox wants her to build him a Lego tower! At least that is what he does when he is human. With his Duplo bricks.

Oh, well that's straightforward.

Maybe this little fox really is a little person...

The cub sits and watches her with unwavering fascination; the towers seems to be the best thing ever.

The maned wolf settles down nearby, and watches the cub, as if to make sure he doesn't get into trouble.

After the first tower, Bonnie builds one in a rainbow.

The maned wolf is lying down and relaxes; apparently, the cub in his keeping and the woman are not going to cause trouble for each other.

The fox cub watches with great fascination, sometimes yaps and jumps with enthusiasm, or nudges and licks Bonnie's hand as a sign of affection and approval.

"... Did something happen to the bar?"

Wan is alarmed.

"Looks like it." Bonnie says.

"I got no idea how, but nobody seems too fussed."

"Doesn't look stable," says the young man who has never lived in a house and thus has no idea about architecture with which to make this judgement.

"I don't reckon it'll fall down, that would be foolish magic."

"I don't trust buildings anyway," Wan says dubiously.

"You been in a collapsed building?"

"Nah. I lived in a tree growing up." Beat. "Also, with a tree man. Other people lived in buildings, but I mostly stayed on top of them."

Beat.

"I've been on collapsing buildings."

"Jeez, no wonder yer worried." Bonnie says. "It ain't bendin' at the beams or nothin', though."

"Yeah, turns out a lot of buildings in the poorer part of town weren't made to have people jumping onto their rooftops. Who knew," Wan says ruefully.

It was a terrible architectural fact he only learned after puberty's growth spurts hit.

Bonnie laughs.

"What were yer doin' up there?"

"Completely legal activities, like demonstrating a healthy respect for the property of others," immediately.

Bonnie laughs again.

"Sure you were. You want a drink, Wan?"

"Sure! I have no idea what they serve here."

"Anything, I reckon." Bonnie says. "I've been workin' through beers of the world, but you might be too young..."

Thoughtfully: "What's beer, and why would I not be old enough for it?"

"How old are you?" Bonnie asks. "It's got alcohol in."

"Seventeen. How about you?"

"Forty five, which means I get ter drink beer and you cain't." Bonnie says. "I could get you a soda though?"

"Hang on, hang on, hang on. What's this about not being able to drink alcohol? I've been drinking baijiu since I was five. It's less likely to kill you than water."

"Oh. Maybe it's just that I ain't allowed to buy it you then, since you ain't twenty one." Bonnie says.

Breezily: "I can buy it for myself."

"How 'bout I get you cake instead then?" Bonnie asks.

"I'm good with this!"

Bonnie goes to the bar and brings back a couple of cupcakes.

"There you go. How you been keeping?"

"Firesomely. How about you?"

"I got a lot of students who suddenly realised they need to pass their classes by the end of term." Bonnie says. "So better than them in any case."
