Notes
There are notes with Bar for Courfeyrac, Grantaire, and Gavroche. They all say more or less the same thing, after the salutation:
He's returned. None of the items he carried were transported with him. For the rest, we must trust to hope and our friends.

Discretion in writing is an old and long-ingrained habit. (As public notes from Enjolras go, this is a relatively long one.) His friends know where to find him, anyway.

"When?" he asks simply.

Enjolras sees Gavroche, and the note in his hand. Context enough.
"Yesterday afternoon."
He left the note shortly afterward, once he'd gathered up all Bossuet's abandoned belongings and looked around a little to see if the others were in the main room. (He ate his share of the crêpes mechanically, returned Bossuet's portion, wrote out the notes, went upstairs to see if Courfeyrac was in his room.)

[ooc: That's okay! You didn't say it wasn't for tagging, so I figured it was good to go. :)]
He nods. "But something kept him from taking things from here?"
no subject
"He went through the door, but the books and papers he was carrying fell to the floor. All of them, not dropped."
His memory -- they'll have to hope, that's all.
no subject
"Then let's hope he was at least allowed to remember."
He's still in two minds, but it's a personal selfish matter, he won't say anything.
no subject
If he weren't allowed to remember -- if all of this was for no change, no purpose -- then what would the point of allowing him to enter in the first place be?
no subject
"I wonder if we'll ever know. If he only changes his own timeline..."
no subject
"Then we will have helped dear friends and France, all the same."
That's all that matters. Not reward, not personal satisfaction, not whether history knows a single one of their names, so long as it's better for their actions.

"True enough", Gavroche agrees with a small smile. "And perhaps he'll find his way back here to tell us so."
no subject
It would be welcome. Already he misses Bossuet's smiling presence, though the knowledge of his work for important causes is all the comfort he would ask. But learning the outcome of their actions is only worth the selfishness of summoning Bossuet back if that's what Bossuet himself would prefer. (And it might be. I expect I will see you again, he said. It's good to know. Some of what chafes at Enjolras here will trouble Bossuet less.)
They'll see, anyway. They've done what they can; France is out of their hands, now.

"So what now for you?" he asks, easy but with depth to the question. To go from having a project again, to having none...
no subject
"What do you mean?"
He could answer on a guess, but better to clarify.
no subject
"You had something to work on. Now there's only the waiting, and I know idleness doesn't sit well with you."
